Can you show how to drop the feed dogs? I have the 201k that was made to treadle. I love the 201. What is your favorite machine to sew on?

Hi, I have a vintage Pinnock. I've never tried free motion quilting before and so far I can't work out if I've even connected the foot right. Thanks for saying you believe any machine can do it, I shall keep potching at it bit by bit until I get there 😊

Hi I just bought one but it stinks of old oil. It works well. I've read that it may have a absorbent wool that catches the excess oil ? Not sure. ?

Oh, i got lot's of these old Ladies- a few Singers- the oldest from 1895- but my Jax i love the most- it's a Singer 15 clone- so it runs like butter and got little patents which makes it better. But finding a quilting foot will be an adventure! I never bought on Ebay i was always looking for my mashines in my region so i only got feet all my mashines come with. I would love to try FMQ on my old mashines. I hink on my other four hand cranks it will not work smooth enough.

Hi! Can you sew thicler blankets with this mashine? I have antique normal Singers and other nice brnds- 5 with handkrank but not an industrial one. I wanted to buy a Juki- so expencive in Austria because of shipping costs and taxes- so i'm looking for an other solution. Most problem is the plate, which cannot sink for fmq...thank you for this informative video❤

I have a couple of old Singers and I LOVE them both. One is my Moms old Red Eye. The attachments hook from the back. I love the old girl. When my Mom passed, nobody wanted it. So, I spent a fortune getting the old girl shipped trucked up to me. After I gave it a good cleaning and oiling it didn’t take long to fall I love with it. I will never part with it. My other old treasure is an elderly 99K. It’s in great shape and I love it. Buying the fancy new machines that do everything but cook supper and wash clothes.

How do you look up the serial number on the sewing machine? I think I have the same machine but I don’t know how old it is. I did hear that you can’t really go by the patent dates on the throat plate.

She's wonderful! What is her model number? I have one of her and know she is rare because she is a variant of VS1 and VS2. I like how she looks in your homemade treadle top. Any help is appreciated.

I have stumbled upon a master!! WOW, and on a treadle....hmmmmmm....I'm so ready to ditch power. I have two Singer 191J's on small treadles.....way too much hand and foot for this autistic guy, LOL...

At the 50 minute mark - some of the best advice is given: it’s exactly how I teach students drawing, painting sculpting etc. Art builds on art - and it has for centuries

Great tutorial! Possible tip -- fold your (red) fabric in half (length) and half (width) to determine center of that fabric when you unfold, and then you have a guide to place center of snowflake for best position.

Thank you for your clever comment on the hand wheel. That one was indeed meant to work with the motor. There are previous threadle ones, that came with this type of open hand wheel and some with a back clamp for the feet. More challenging to get other feet

Beautiful work! I’m doing my best to learn a little and make a few slow motion and thoughtfull gifts, preferably upcycling materials 😊 Have you ever used a natural material for batting, maybe you can suggest something we can reuse? I’ve used t-shirt cotton and it worked for my very low level but there should be something better for more demanding projects. Thank you!

I’m about to start hand quilting a large pieced quilt using a hoop and have watched quite a few videos in search of information and guidance, but, until I found you, I didn’t find what Ivwas looking for: someone working on an actual large quilt using a hoop! Your videos are a revelation and an inspiration and have given me all I need to start on this major project. I have always Maxine quilted before, but felt that this piece was telling me it wanted to be finished by hand. Do, hoop is ordered, and the voyage will begin. Thank you so much - it’s anazing watching you work such a stunning quilt.

I have a white rotary, electric, fr3282734 machine. Do you know if it will quilt in freestyle pattern like you are doing in this video? I bought it at a yard sale for 25.00 in a beautiful Martha Washington cabinet, the machine needs to be refurbished.

Tim, I’ve been searching for a FMQ foot for my Old White Rotary sewing machine. I watched your Jimmy rig, from a possible garter, found in the drawer- while I’m trying to do this, would you know what I could purchase one? Thanks

So i tried fmq on my machine but it will stitch in only two directions and not the opposite. (If that makes sense). It might sew when i stitch left to right, but not right to left. Do you have any trouble shoot ideas for that.

I have this machine (or one a little newer maybe 1918) which I want to get it up and working. Although I've had it for over 20 years, I never thought to use it for actually quilting my quilts. It's a little intimidating. Thank you for sharing! I need all the help I can get.
