Great talk guys. This was fun and thank you so much for featuring your Swashbucklers, Dale! Looking forward to the update on all pairs too. The Swashbuckler boots are based on a Packer boot platform. The heel base shape and heel caps are what differentiate them from the heels on most other boots. The heel cap you find on the Swashbuckler is similar to what you'd find on White's Plainsman boot or many other western heel boots, essentially a "cowboy", "riding" or "walking" heel. I hope you get some time to walk your Swashbucklers in the rain that would make for an interesting video... Ive been flux core welding in mine all weekend the natural waxed flesh is the bee's knees.

What a wealth of information! one of the best boot discussions I have ever seen. I wish someone would talk about laces (looking at you). There are a myriad of pros and cons regarding boot laces. materials such as leather vs, paracord vs. waxed vs. Kevlar etc. tensile strength, length. applications, lacing patterns. different tannages, thickness, ease of use, slippage, I could go on.

Being owned by the Japanese is much better than being owned by the Chinese. The Japanese actually have a love for American heritage.. Iron Heart is a great brand that showcases that.

Thanks for posting this. A lot of these companies post their last/leather/sizing information randomly throughout their sites and can be pretty vague so its nice to have some in depth info about them. I'm looking to buy some MP's on the next sale for sure.

On all my MP boots, I sized down to an 11.5D from my normal 12D. They fit fine and actually measured out about the same as my Iron Rangers and Alden boots in 11.5D. Truman boots were interesting as I sized down .5 and they were too short for my liking as I wear boot socks. Ended up going 12D in Truman boots (True Size). For me, Nicks, Whites, Red Wing, Grant Stone and Alden is a .5 down while Truman and Wesco boots are true to size. Just wish makers would all just label their boots what size they are without all the guess-work.......

Really good insight. It's very annoying how these custom boot makers rarely ever compare their boot sizes to more readily available boots like redwings. Their own sizing guides are usually no help.
@Kingfisher12152 жыл бұрын
@@williamswiger7547 I just got my Whites and I find Whites to run even bigger than Alden’s. I comfortably wear 11s in Alden’s and 11 or 11.5 in Allen Edmonds. My Drew’s are an 11 and they are just a hair big. The Whites I am going to size down to 10.5s. I have a pair of Danners in 10.5 and they are fine.
@williamswiger75472 жыл бұрын
@@Kingfisher1215 Peoples feet are different. I usually measure the boots from the heel (not sole) to toe. All the boots that fit me measure out to around 13 inches. I find this true for all makers. Does not matter what the boots are marked in size but Alden, Red Wing, Whites, Nicks are at the 11.5D. Truman and Wesco at labeled at 12. Even have one Wesco that measures the same as the others and is marked as a 12.5. You also have to factor if you wear thin or thick socks with the boots. Also, if you want a tighter fit or a less tight fit. The only boots I might have been able to have gone shorter are the Whites MP boots. Mine in 11.5 are very roomy in the toes but my other Whites other than the MP, there is no way I could have even considered that. My Whites MP boots and my Red Wing Iron Ranger are almost the exact same length though. It all just boils down to how you want the fit to be and socks you will wear. I like more room in the toe area, but all my boots break at the right place on my foot.
@Kingfisher12153 жыл бұрын
Nice discussion. I just ordered a pair of Whites. Packers. I grew up wearing cowboy boots with walking heels and the packer is just like them, only as a lace up. I am also getting a pair of Drew’s. Line cutters in a black rough out that were a great deal off of eBay. Both of these are more work boots vs the MP Sherman’s or some of the other Whites models. Oh, and Spokane is a nice city, although I like the Idaho side better. You should go visit. White’s, Nicks and Franks all right there.

Thanks Justin! If you like the lace to toe I would probably just stick with the 350 cutter. They come stock in many leather options and you may get lucky to find your size in stock! The foreman is also a great option on a wedge sole and a little bit cheaper price point.

Hobby?? If anything can be said to be the cause of humanity's downward spiral towards collapse, it could be our penchant for unrestrained vanity and an excess of $$$ that allows its indulgence. i live in Montana, boots are not a hobby, they're a necessity!! Folks here don't discuss the "look"of boots, only their utility. Maybe it just goes with being the richest people on earth., but that may soon pass into history!
