Only 1 year old Whale ??? 😩 What happened ? But it is an amazing site to see the sharks.

@@sanctuaries I've seen they think it got hit by a boat but they aren't 100% sure. I would lean towards humans since they are the usual cause.

Great question! Those are parasites attached to the caudal fin, most likely a species of parasitic copepod.

Truly magnificent creatures shown doing the important job of scavenging & cleaning the decaying whale carcass & other carrion. Sharks get too much bad publicity when they have important jobs as cleaners within the marine world. They & others including sea lions do the bigger job leaving the rest for the many others who rely on carcasses for feeding. They including various species of fish, remora, crabs, lobster, shrimp, eels, octopus & Osedax worms. This video is a great example of interspecies cooperation & symbiotic relationships in the marine world.

@@sanctuaries hi, thanks for replying. At the moment there is not a specific footage id like to use but i keep track of what there is available of copyright free materials. So if i got it right on this channel there is footage noaa has permission to use but that doesn’t belong to noaa and therefore is not public domain?
