Thanks for the video. Not many people are aware of this breed. I have a Swiss for a year now. I highly recommend for a first time owner such as myself. Highly intelligent, very sensitive, hates being alone, easy to train and has boundless energy. Good guard dog in that they can get up to 40kg and have a very deep bark. Not very likely to bite unless provoked.

@@amarjohl2926 yes I am aware. A working line German Shepherd also does not have hip problems of the pet or show line. The workingline have a better structure and are more rigorously screened because their purposes are for work or Sport. As for the Swiss Shepherd, their temperament is more mellow and softer. I do prefer a more dominant temperament and dark pigmentation so while they are beautiful dogs and wonderful companions, they are simply not my preference. I do disagree of most of what this woman said, as I have a Swiss Shepherd myself here with me now watching this video. This kind of dog is hyper active as they are normally lean/skinny, and although they look like an angel because of how beautiful they look but unfortunately looks could be deceiving as they are also unpredictable to other people. And if you are not active enough you can't keep up. The dog on this video is slightly different as this dog is too hairy on the legs part. What i know this bred have a mild temperament suitable for a family dog as they are not too aggressive.

I had a bunch of dogs growing up 20 plus, basset hounds, brazilian filas (my country), german shepherds, labradors, dobermanns, boxers... and the swiss shepherds were my favorites, two beautiful girls, present from a kennel that my aunt use to work for many years as a vet. They were the most kind dogs I ever had, amazing temperament, not agressive at all even with other animals like chickens, cats, goats, rabbits (grew up in a farm) etc. Compared to my filas they were angels, two of my brazilian filas dug a hole under the fence and went for a night walk killing a cow from a neighbour's farm. In the morning they had dried blood everywhere, we thought that they had killed someone.

they are mild temperament but hyperactive in nature as they are naturally skinny except for the dog in this video as it looks fatty. I got White Swiss Shepherd, they are not aggressive to humans but very deadly to small animals as they are too hyper /playful it ends to death. They are of medium to large size, mine is a 2 year old beautiful male and weigh around 38kg or 80lbs. He looks so attractive and is a minus because everyone wants to pet him and sometimes he don't mind but there are instances that he dislike the person for no reason and snap on that person, very gentle on kids though.
@kaiqueamorim15 жыл бұрын
@@snowsansa1527 You can't generalize. Looks like your dog was not socialized properly, also he being hyperactive means nothing, in a litter you will have super high energy dogs and super low ones (those always sleeping). I had two swiss shepherds, both female and they were the most kind dogs I ever had, low energy dogs and they had no problem with other animals like cats, chickens and goats. I had a bunch of dogs 20 plus, I grew up in a farm and my parents were vet doctors, had all type of breeds from basset hounds to brazilian filas (my country) and honestly swiss shepherds are my favorite. @@snowsansa1527 I think that's just your particular dog. My Swiss Shepherd is exceedingly gentle around smaller animals as well as children, and she has never in her life snapped at anybody. Even when she was attacked by a much smaller dog, she ran away when she could have very easily killed the other dog had she wanted to, so you can't claim that all Swiss Shepherds are dangerous around small animals. Additionally, the dog in this video is not overweight, it's just fluffy. You can tell by the curve of it's stomach that it's an appropriate weight.

@dogsfromthecity5 жыл бұрын
The dog is training and learning herding, but probably not being the best at it in terms of herding instinct.
@dinganddoo25 жыл бұрын
A working dog is a dog with higher energy and drive - meaning they're bred to do a job and are not terribly happy, nor meant to be just lying around the house. These dogs can become destructive when not kept busy, both mentally and physically. They're the equivalent of a human workaholic. A lower drive dog still maintains the drive to work but has an innate ability to turn the drive off and on as needed or necessary. As you saw with this particular breed, he was perfectly happy herding the sheep but wasn't overbearing on them. He'd probably be just as happy watching TV with his owner or quietly playing with a toy on his bed. A companion dog is happy either lying around the house or out hanging around with his/her owner. They can be trained to perform a job but it's not necessary for the dog to be happy and content. A service dog can be any breed trained to perform a task that helps their owner. Service dogs must have some drive but it can't be too high so that the owner is not put at risk. There are exceptions to every rule though.
@roybarmo73794 жыл бұрын

Having two very high drive white Swiss, I don’t agree they are necessarily more moderate than a working gsd. They can excel at sports and protection work, IGP, as mine do. They can be just as suspicious as a gsd, often don’t like strange dogs or people and can be bark aggressive. They are not always good for beginner dog owners or chaotic families. They are very sensitive and bond with extreme loyalty to one or two people in a family. Again, they are very sensitive, and don’t do well with a hard hand at all, so you should know how to train a dog. Best using marker training, otherwise they can be ruined by over harshness because of their sensitivity... or also through to lax training too. Extremely intelligent!!!!

Pony with a straight back and sound movement, beats frogs with nerves of jello. The white gene is the exact same one that makes labs yellow- thats why there are white labs despite heavy breeding out. So if you dont have anything against yellow labs, u have nothing against wss
