I would be curious to see how well it would tool. There are 2 kinds, one with a white wax and one with a black wax. It might be interesting with one of those fancy dragon patterns.

Great question! As I don't tool leather I really cannot say. That being said I would expect the wax on the surface to crack more than fade so I'm not sure how pleasing the final effect would be.... I need to test this now!!

Thanks for the reviews. I am still new to leather craft but I have already purchased some waxed leather, and Pueblo for a few upcoming projects. I will definitely be grabbing some Buttero for a few orders. Thanks again and you just gained a follower.

Really enjoyed the review but I have to point out a weird apparition: Karl Marx in a white t-shirt giving us the finger at 4:38

I’m interested in seeing various finished products with this leather. I would like to get it, but I’m unsure of what to make with it.

It would be very interesting to see what your card holder looks like after a year of everyday use. It would be interesting to see what your card holder looks like after you have buffed it on a buffing wheel. Thanks for another very interesting video.

Thanks, glad you liked the video :) I've given this cardholder to a colleague and will try to keep en eye on how it ages to share that with you all.

As grant stone make shoes with it is it actually possible to rewax the leather woth your mentioned sapphire product back to original white?
@JamesBerry2 ай бұрын
No I definitely do not think you'll be able to get it back to white as the white is an added layer. The whole idea is that the white comes off and showcases the unique patina that you are creating with your item.

@ could you possibly test it with a patch of leather you have?:)

Would you do an update to show us how its worn?

I'm hoping to make shoes with this to reaaaaaaally push the patina! Stay tuned ;)

Is the wax is a way to protect the leather instead of just a fast fashion trend? If so, why white and not other color or even just transparent like a lot waxed backpack is, just for the protection and not try to hide the real color of the fabric/leather

Hello, thank you for this lovely informative video. Can I ask if you have tried testing what happens when you apply wax onto the areas that have been scratched off, if it helps to "repair" the scratched off parts to make it look more like it was originally (before scratched) ?Thank you.
@JamesBerry2 жыл бұрын
Hello, glad to hear you enjoyed the video :) I'l not sure if this would work as rubbing the wax with anything may simply reveal the leather underneath even more. I tend to think this leather is MADE to be scratched and patina and would say that you just have to embrace this kind of issue :) Sorry I can't be of more help!

I think it's not a "wax" in the conventional sense of something like a "beeswax". I think this is more similar to a parrafin wax applied at an extremely thin layer, which is much less resistant to liquids, and is more like a really thin layer of "crayon" or paint. For me, it's quite over-hyped as its "unique-ness" lasts such a tiny amount of time, and seems more like a gimmick to take just a regular leather and a very small finish and charge 2x the price.
@JamesBerry3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input on this. I agree it's clearly not the type of wax I had in mind when you see how fast water and oil get absorbed. I must agree with you on the idea that this is a bit over-hyped. I can understand its appeal but I probably won't be chosing this leather for my work as it's simply too hard to work with without scratching and damaging. In terms of it being a gimmick, certainly... but that's probably why so many people love this leather. I'll need to keep en eye on how my test piece ages now ;)

Why you want a white wax on your leather and dont just get the leather of the color you love at first place? And why white and why wax and not something else apply to it? What the purpose of it? When it started to be made? It just looks like your wallet is dirty and had soaked in white power and havent wipe off isn't it?
@macwoodlee25322 жыл бұрын
So, what's that? It's obviously not a wax.. it doesn't have any protection though it's attached to the surface. not a powder, not a film, not a plastic.. then what's that?
@JamesBerry2 жыл бұрын
From what I gather it's a form of wax that's added on as a powder coat. Though I have no more information to share on the topic unfortunately.
