I know there’s a lot of scrutiny with how clean the vocals are on this album but I’ve gotta say, the cleans and incredible guitar breakdowns/solos are a perfect follow up to what was a very raw and painful album in The Valley.

I’m only through the first 5 songs because I keep replaying them, they’re that good. Can’t wait to finish this… eventually! So far it’s better than the Valley even if it’s not as original since it’s more of a continuation.

Been listening to the album all day. Personally, I enjoyed it. As someone who enjoyed The Valley, glad they broaden their horizons to their sound and also not shy themselves from letting Phil's clean shine while maintaining the melancholic heaviness from the last album. Unfortunately, this album is not gonna be the cup of tea for most Metal Elitists and Purists as they may gonna shit on this album and prefer the band to be like their first few albums before The Valley. Overall, this is a great follow up from The Valley. To hell with naysayers, this is how a band should mature while maintaining their sound.

Idk why so many people are talking about other people NOT liking this album when I have LITERALLY seen absolutely nothing but praise for this album. I think Whitechapel fan's are completely cool with the direction they went with The Valley and Kin because we all know how cathartic these song's are for Phil. This album, just like The Valley...has something for everyone on it. These guy's are amazing songwriters and they have also matured a ton over the year's.

After listening to this album multiple times, I've come to the conclusion that this may be one of metal's best concept albums in a very long time: I absolutely adore this thing. What makes it go one step further is that it's like listening to a prog-death story driven musical. It's the fact that it absolutely nails it has a fantastic opening with I Will Find You - setting up the world/tone that we're going to be in while also setting up the wants of the alter-ego presented in the story: the fact that he wants to find Phil's younger self and aiming to reconnect him with his past. It's literally combining the "I Want" and the establishing number into one, while Lost Boy is another I Want song, fleshing out more of what this alter ego wants, while at the end - Kin is ultimately that emotional final number that sets out this album's point: it's better for us to move on from our past rather than dwell into it, thinking about what if we did one little thing (in this album's case, what if he decided that he couldn't live without his parents) - it's talking about the Butterfly Effect. I could go on and on about why this album's structure is geniunely brilliant, but I gotta stop before someone complains about my rambling. My point is that I absolutely adore this album and it's a massive contender for AOTY for me.

This album is killer, these last 2 albums showing just what these guys can do is incredible. I always liked the larger gap between clean and distorted vocals. A lighter clean voice that changes to the most horrific sounding beast always has a way more powerful affect. Great music guys!!!!

The Valley wasn’t just one of my favorite metal albums of 2019. It was my favorite deathcore album, period. It’s one of the few rare albums in that subgenre that made me feel something. Kin may have just topped The Valley in that department. It’s extremely diverse in the tracklisting while having a nice flow overall. Phil Bozeman continues to impress me with his singing ability and the songwriting keeps getting better. The guitar work is also fantastic and the solos from Ben Savage are such bliss. Drums are also killer, courtesy of Alex Rüdinger who does not get enough love for the wok he does. For a band this late in their career, they’re still leading the pack in deathcore, even with great acts like Shadow of Intent and Fit for an Autopsy not far behind. I’m definitely gonna go to that Metal Blade 40th anniversary show, which also features the aforementioned Shadow of Intent and Revocation. Such a amazing lineup of bands!

The reason the deathcore community allows WC to getaway away with clean singing versus SS is because Phil can actually sing cleanly and the band knows how to have shifts in and out of tones seamlessly
