Been skiing Whiteface for over 30 years. It’s my go to ski area. First - I have never paid anywhere close to over $120. Most I’ve paid is $82. Second - the mountain is huge with plenty of options for all. The slides are probably open for no more than 10-20 times a year and you better be a top expert skier to challenge them - otherwise you get what you deserve. Thirdly - Lake Placid is 15 minutes away with excellent lodging facilities, dining and entertainment options. ORDA offers plenty of options which include passes to arenas such as where the 1980 USA hockey team won gold and Eric Heiden won his speed skating golds (and that was on the outdoor rink). Also there is always something going on at the ski jumping complex (which is a remarkable experience to see live). And also Mt Hovenburg where the Olympic bobsled, luge and skeleton took place. I really can go on and on about the incredible attributes of the area. Overall the ski and stay experience deserves a way better than a 58.

For me, a big factor in riding at a resort is crowds. I prefer heading to places with no lodging to avoid the rich tourists. Nice review as always!

For great food wait until you get to Bolton valley in Vermont. Best woodfired pizza I've had at a ski resort and it's affordable too

Mellow!!!??? This is one of the hardest mountains in the NE. From the footage I don’t see anything from the summits. This is not a terrain park mountain. This mountain is known for its expert terrain.

I think its time to update how you rate/present these mountains my dude. I think you need to rate them more relative to the region they are in, and you need to do a bit more research on an area prior. The reason there is no lodging and not many food options at whiteface is because its 10 minutes from the often #1 rated ski town in the US, Lake Placid. There are incredible lodging options as well as dining options. The hotels, as well as ORDA (the company that operates whiteface for the state of ny) offers free shuttles from town right to the mountain. Its also interesting that you claim the runs here are pretty mellow. This just tells me you spent all day in the terrain park and did not hit really anything off of the summit of little whiteface, or the true summit itself.

He does do them relative to the regions. The prices and accessibility are reletive. 50 dollar resorts in the midwest are a 5 while 200 dollar resorts in the west are a 5. Not how I think if should be rated but its consistent

He made a video of his trip to Whiteface and in the video he never rode the Summit Quad or went down Approach to any of that terrain. Back then I commented on the video that he missed what made WF special

@@LincolnintheAdirondacks So true. How do you review whiteface and not even mention lake placid? and bummed that the slides weren't open but 2 seconds of googling would show you aren't getting them midwinter. He made it sound like your driving from Albany to whiteface and that's all there is.
@Oblivinym8 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Didn't even say the word "Adirondacks," or any mention of Gore/Bellayre being sister mountains, etc.

If you go on a clear day you can see all of Lake Placid which is like 4-6 miles away from little whiteface the smaller peak. As far as food after your done skiing there is plenty of really good places to eat at lake placid for dinner. Only 20 mins away if you want to take like a hour break to cath a quick bite to eat and reset your muscles. Another great thing is even though the mountain is famous its so far from anything else that the crowds arent bad at all.

Whiteface views a beautiful, the slides are not open much as it is just a stream coming off the cliffs that freezes over. Mostly only open after a snow storm. It is a great mountain and with the new lifts it is easy to access the mountain. It is challenging and very steep. Try gore mnt as well. I think gore is better snow and maybe smaller but still has challenging terrain.

I did go to gore! It was awesome!

One thing with the lodging to take account, is the beautiful town of lake placid less than 20 minutes away. This is where’s most people stay when planning a trip to whiteface.

I live 6 minutes from Whiteface and am there at least weekly during the ski season. I think you got some things right, but two glaring areas where I'd wholly disagree: 1. Food - the food at whiteface is very weak, I'm shocked that you gave it even a 6. The main restaurant, Cloudspin, is uninspired with pre-prepared food. Lodging is non-existant as you said, but that's due to its location surrounded by/abutting Wilmington Wild Forest and the MacKenize Mountain Wilderness in the Adirondack Park Preserve. 2. Views/scenary - Whiteface has maybe the best views on the east coast overlooking one of best conserved natural regions in the lower 48. The view of Lake Placid from the summit is breathtaking on a clear day.

I bought a lift ticket in advance to Whiteface in Feb '21 and that day there were thunderstorms that knocked out their power. I could not ride but they would not even provide a partial refund.

Can’t knock Whiteface for lodging. Lake Placid is awesome for lodging and you have to appreciate WF is in the middle of the largest wilderness park in the lower 48. Not a glitzy Disney setting you seem to be looking for.

Those mountains look lit! All in one place, gigantic mountains, more slope options to last half a liftime, I can well understand why the Lake Placid olympics took place in that area... Say, this is New York, home of some of the greatest house music in my life. Are rhere any clubs rhat book those dj's there as well. Rhat would be awesome! 🙏🤍🇧🇻🏔️🏡🎶👌🌌
