Love that shot of Jod looking out the window the look of someone who’s lost it all after being so close to having it all. I also think there a glimmer of hope, like maybe he’s a little glad the pirates are finally gone and he can start fresh Also I got the vibe he was trained post order 66 which is super interesting and not a good time to be a Jedi. While staring out of the window watching the end of the battle, I think he was kind of happy/awestruck that his pessimistic view of the galaxy was being challenged. In his life, it was every man for himself. The galaxy was total darkness with only pinpricks of light. "No one is coming to help you!" In that moment, maybe he begins to see that there really are "good guys" who came to the rescue of these helpless people. He's not evil. He could have easily killed every person in that room, but purposely chose not to. Hopefully, this is a new beginning for Jod, and we get to meet up with this character again in the future.

So Jod was the padawan of a Jedi who survived the initial purge before the Empire killed her right in front f his eyes. That smile at the end. Was that a Eno Cordova moment: "hope will always survive in those who continue to fight" ? Like was Jod happy to be proven wrong, that sometimes good people can prevail? Also what a open ending. I squealed like a little girl at the overpowered B-Wing beams! I'm 48! Always gives me great delight seeing anything from Rebels in live action. I actually felt a bit for Jod at the end, seeing his pirate ship come down. Its all he's known since that horrible day when he was supposed to be training as a Jedi, but it got took from him, so he decided to take from others. Perhaps however, the force was working through him, as due to his actions, he and the kids help free a people from servitude, so perhaps he may realise he could be more than a pirate, and maybe find the Path Of The Jedi. A fun show, hoping for more again sometime. Especially with the weighty Andor coming soon.

Deep down inside Jod did care about the kids. He was as distraught about KB's fate as the kids were. It sounds like Jod was a bokken Jedi padawan, and lost all faith in the galaxy after seeing his master hunted down and killed, who to that point, was likely the best thing he knew in his short life. His entire view of the world was shaped by that event.

Yeah, I feel like there were multiple times he really could have killed any of them but a part of him was always holding back (and I don't know that it was JUST because this is a kids' show). At the end I feel like there is a piece of Jod that is ok with the way things turned out. His entire life was sort of drawn in the direction it was by the Republic Collapsing, The Jedi who found him and offered him a better future was herself on the run and ends up being brutally murdered in front of him. So, everything he viewed as good was wiped out and left to fend for his own survival. Its why he repeatedly speaks to the fact there are no good guys coming to save the day etc. His entire life was one big tale of the good guys losing and not showing up to save the day. These kids however stayed believing and in the end they were right and good guys did arrive.

Without defaulting to "it all needs to happen in that same place", I'd imagine that the Supervisor has limited intelligence, so it didn't have enough malice to test the Emissary's credentials until he announced he was also a Jedi, because then it conflicted with previous information. Then again, if the Emissary also had to provide a password it would make the system much safer as well, so we have to assume they simply didn't count on being tested... Poor planning.

Yeah Captain Rennod has already shown up, he was the skeleton with the sword sticking out of the chest pinning it to the wall in the captain's quarters of the Cinder. As per SM33's retelling of the events to the kids in that one episode anyway. Based on how the droids react in the episode, without a doubt Silvo's best plan would have just been to keep shuttling cargo back and forth using the Onyx Cinder rather than getting his frigate down there. It might take longer but the droids didn't seem to have any suspicion until Silvo confronted the Supe and got called out for being a fake. He probably coulda got off at least a few shiploads before he caught any heat. Not sure why he keeps saying others can't get through the barrier. He just got his frigate through the barrier right? That was before it was totally disabled even. They kinda dropped the ball with explaining what's going on there but I'll give em a pass. The fact that we got B-Wings using the multi-laser composite beam was awesome. They were really trying to say that was a function of the prototype and not the production model back a few years ago after Rebels. Now it's canon and that's great. That was also quite the response team this time, we never see that kind of flotilla being sent out. I liked it, it felt appropriate for a strike force. You weren't annoyed by Wim? He kinda sucked in general. I too would have liked to know more about what happens to At Attin afterwards, but that isn't within the scope of this show. I have to agree that I really don't think we need a season 2 also. Let's be honest not everything needs to have a continuation, and this has a great natural end point. I had a VHS from the 80s that was a BTS style documentary covering mostly Return of the Jedi, but it did cover earlier stuff as well. That was where I first saw the original footage of the Han Solo & Scottish fat guy Jabba the Hut from the cut ANH clips. They also covered the puppets and the miniatures in great detail, including the Endor speeder bike stuff. I wish i could find that tape, I used to watch it as a kid in the early 90s. Jod is probably another alias that this person uses to be honest. I mean you mentioned like four of them, and there were a couple of others a guard mentioned when he was running in the mudbaths. I think it's fair to assume that Silvo is the closest one of his aliases to his true persona so I've taken to just calling him Silvo now.

I agree with you on Rennod. SM-33 told us about him getting betrayed and killed before he purposely crashed the ship. But to answer your question about the barrier, the Onyx Cinder was an actual emissary ship that Rennod stole. He built the armored hull around it to disguise it. It being an emissary ship is what let it past the barrier, while we saw the satellites in the barrier shoot down the other ship that tried to pass through. Jod explains most of this as he "realizes" it in episode 7.

@@stephaniemaris4878 Ok so when I brought up the part about the barrier, that wasn't me positing a question because I lacked understanding of what was happening. What you just "explained" to me was the clearly obvious, a conclusion we were meant to have since the last episode laid it out for us. I phrased it the way I did because in this very episode, we saw that by some manner the frigate was able to enter the barrier and descend to the planet's surface, as well as communicate, without the barrier being shut off. This little revelation kinda throws a wrench at the whole thing doesn't it? After episode 7 it would have been pretty easy to simply say the Cinder/Republic Mint ships had some kind of special hull or other identifier that did not react to the Barrier defenses. However in this episode it can be implied that there is some level of control that can by exercised manually with barrier entry.

There are so many unanswered questions. How long has this planet been making credits and who set it up? What happened to pirate that found the planet? Was he one of the dead on the ship? What happened to Jod? With so many unanswered questions will there be more?

So each era of star wars is based on a time in real world history whether it's the American civil war, the Vietnam war or World War 2 The new republic era has never really been that well defined, but with pirates playing significant roles in both skeleton crew and the mandalorian and the new republic being referred to as "pirate busters" I wonder if they intend of establishing this time period as being the star wars equivalent of the golden age of piracy

Damn they really didn't see all the other great directors that worked on this? The comment at the end of "I think Jon Watts directed all the episodes" made me so sad. Their names are literally the first thing you see once the episode is over, come on.

Jod was a really well written villain. Definately took notes from Long John Silver, but why not? Definately the hero of his own story, someone who does not really wish to hurt anyone, but who will do so without hesitation if crossed or threatened, just to survive and who deep down is tired of this life but hasn't figured out any good way to get out of it, except for that what he had known all his life: Fight for it and stab anyone in the back to get there if you can't fight openly. In a way he also is still a kid. He lacks the maturity to see alternatives to his stupid "get filthy rich through robbery and extortion" plan.

And they didn't even try and put up a fight. Just "oh fuck, spacecops are here...bail!" Which makes sense. That's probably what real world pirates would have done if a whole bunch of Royal Navy ships showed up.

I hope someone is going to pick up that phone, cause I called it last week about Jod being a Bokken jedi trained by an order 66 survivor. He seemed to know some jedi phrases which made me think he wasn't self taught, but he seemed too unskilled to be a knight or even a padawan and idk he felt too materialistic and credit obsessed to be a former youngling. As for a season 2 I wouldn't say no to one, but I'm happy with what we got, definitely like my third favorite show to come out of disney star wars.

I do hope this gets renewed, but like season 1 introduces to the cast of characters which won’t be necessary going forward and we know Disney wants to go more back to movies so do you think if they do subsequent seasons they remain episodes or might they switch to movies?

Still think it was a missed opportunity not to have Carson Teva and Adelphi Squadron be the X-Wings that saved the day. Just to tie things into the wider New Republic elements we've already seen.
