Most definitely does ah takes me back to 1989 where things was so much simpler all the things that was cool and awesome to enjoy such as this movie. Ghostbusters II indeed is quintessential nostalgia just as much as Super Mario Bros 3 was sure the original Mario Bros was like Ghostbusters was iconic and immortalized sure but nevertheless this movie to me holds the same exact level as the original does as so does Mario Bros 3 lol. 1989 ah so many awesome movies games heck all types of stuff from that year this movie being one of them.

Fun fact: around 18:35 when you guys noted, "we're driving even better now" , That was actually from a deleted scene that took place after the Ghostbusters visit the museum and check out the painting. If you notice Ray became entranced by the eyes, and Winston kept asking him afterwards, "you alright?" But then in the deleted scene, Ray becomes possessed temporarily and tries to kill them all by driving erratically, but eventually snaps out of it. The footage was filmed but the scene was cut, so the footage made it's way into the montage. Great reaction, love all of y'all's content.

My older cousin took me to see this in the theater, and I'm ashamed to say, I ran out screaming like a little whimp when Viggo started talking and shooting crap from his eyes. My cousin was so disappointed, but he was still nice enough to take me into the auditorium next door. We watched Honey, I Shrunk The Kids instead and it was so much fun. When Ghostbusters II came out on video, it took my at least 3 tries to get passed that Viggo scene and finally finish it. That was my right of passage into watching scary movies. A year later, I found myself watching Freddy, Jason, and Chucky. I love Ghostbusters 1, but for these reasons, Ghostbusters 2 has a special place in my heart.

FUN FACT: The ghost train that charged right through Winston in GB2 was actually previously foreshadowed early on in the first movie. Back when the Ghostbusters first gain popularity and the theme is playing in the background, a balding news reporter can be heard saying "Heck, my grandma used to spin yarns about a spectral locomotive..." Reitman's kids are in the movie. Ivan's son (Jason) was the rude birthday boy in the beginning while his daughter (Catherine) played the girl that Egon was experimenting on.

This is the first GHOSTBUSTERS movie I saw on HBO when I was 5 years old and it scared the hell out of me, parts anyway. This movie got killed at the box office due to the success of Back To The Future 2, Lethal Weapon 2, BATMAN 89, and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade. It made $220 million dollars against a $50 million dollar budget. Critic Roger Ebert gave this movie a thumbs down, as he said in his review that he watched the movie in a crowded theater in Michigan, and there was one person laughing at the movie.

Ghostbusters 2 is one of the earliest movies I can remember watching as a kid, I think I saw it before the first, and I love it. It's a little more scripted than the first but I love it, I have never understood. Also, it literally took me watching it with you guys RIGHT NOW to realize that Egon's scientific research at the beginning of the movie is exactly what happens later in the story! MY FAN THEORY: I frickin' love the Scoleri Brothers, and my theory is that these ghosts - two Italian brothers, one fat, one thin - are meant to be evil Mario and Luigi! Louis even mentions playing Super Mario Bros later in the movie, and that controller used on the Statue of Liberty is a NES joystick - so the filmmakers were definitely fans! Please give the Ghostbusters 2016 reboot a go as well as Afterlife. It's a lot more of a comedy, and a lot different in tone, but I feel it gets unnecessarily hated.

Actually the movie did pretty well at the box office. Just not as good as the first. It cost 30 million & made about 220million. Add in VHS sales and the movie made a bunch of money. What’s funny, and what people forget, is that when Ghostbusters 2 opened in June 1989 it set the record for the biggest opening weekend of all time. The movie held the record for exactly one week when a little movie called “Batman” with Michael Keaton opened. Batman was such a huge hit it took a big portion of GB2’s audience. It did receive mixed reviews from critics though. I’ve never understood the hate. Is it as good as the original? Heck no. But it’s still really funny and who doesn’t love spending time with these characters?

Quick question to other fans of Highlander. Do you consider The Kurgan evil? I get it. He's not the grumpy, but loveable cop, friend of Connor, the android sent by Cyberlife, that Clancy portrays in Detroit: Become Human, or the wise doctor he plays in ER, but... He's not exactly evil. Born to a Slavic equivalent of Sparta, long before Connor, didn't have the luck of being taught by a caring mentor... He's a victim of his circumstance, drunk on quickenings of a whole lot of powerful immortals. I'd love to read your thoughts on him.

@@Arthaius Your comment got shadowed. Most likely because you used the r word(rhymes with Snape). And onto your arguments... Even the Old Testament is okay with taking the women of your slain enemy for your own(Judges 21:14, if I remember right). Only if you don't have a woman fo your own, though, as in other places God advocates for killing the women and children along with the men of enemy tribes and warns that if you have a child with a captive woman, the son will grow up rebelious. The world was a harsher place back in those times. You also have to take into account that he didn't know Heather was a MacLeod woman. Ramirez, the Spanish Peacock, acted like she was his girl. To the victor go the spoils. And he was a lonely man. Why was he lonely? He was an immortal. He couldn't mix with normal humans. How about The K word rhymes with Bill? How about the M word that was RedRum in the mirror? If I write " Insider Trading " does it get flagged? How about Flatulence - that is offensive, lol. Expectorate is another one. Is Assault allowed in written form? Sorry it is just so fascinating, the things pantywaisted censorship queens get all bent out of shape over. Besides, what ever happened to freedom of speech, and freedom of the press? when they do a news report, on TV or in the paper, it's not censored, why should it be here? In regards to the whole Highlander thing, well, I still think he doesn't need to be as ruthless and violent as he is, seems like none of the other Chosen from Zeist were that way. Don't get me wrong, some of his character points are awesome, I love how he gets in the car and looks at the old lady and says "Mom!" then drives crazy around in her car, it's friggin Hilarious, lol but he's still a freakin douche bag, could have calmed down and such over a few hundred years, the rest of them seemed to figure it out.

Slimer was a woman in a foam costume with her legs blue-screened out. That redesign, done because the producers wanted to cash in on the cartoon (which, paradoxically, they also meddled with to make more kid-friendly so as to be in line with this movie), was part of what really held this movie down for all us kids when it came out. We still loved it because it's all we had, but we were annoyed by how they softened the harder edges of the first one.

One thing I like about Ghostbusters 2 is how it fleshes out Venkman's personality, since he is my favorite Ghostbuster. It hints that the reason why he is so focused on finding the right woman for him is probably because he didn't get much love from his mom or something like that. He is like the mood slime, except he wants to absorb positive emotional vibes from a woman.

Nice point about fleshing out venkmans character but ever since I was a kid and now I don't get why venkman is still the most popular ghostbuster When I was just 3-4 years old when my dad put on Ghostbusters for me I clearly saw that ray stantz was the most enthusiastic and hands on practical of the Ghostbusters, him and egon would have worked endless hours up into the night designing, building , conversing ideas and the science of it all and ray would be there in dirty overalls and a cigarette in mouth assembling the proton packs and gadgets together with hoarded parts and screws/screwdriver plus discussed or researched the practical possibility off catching ghosts , years of watching as an adult and still see stantz as the greatest Ghostbuster plus it shows through as Dan Aykroyd was enthusiastic about paranormal studies in real life, Bill Murray only did the 1984 film on condition he gets to make his own movie ' razors edge' in 1985 Bill Murray kept everyone in the dark and just finally showed up out of the blue on the first day of filming , bad attitude Venkman just shows up and makes bombastic confident remarks and he somehow gets to be the kids hero

Unpopular opinion: I don't like Bill Murray. (Anymore) I think he's overrated af and definitely overrated by himself. I think the way he was basically the only thing standing in the way of a Ghostbusters 3 (perhaps for the better, why don't know if it would have been a disaster) and then when Paul Feig tried to revamp the franchise with 4 women (we all know how that turned out, facepalm) all of a sudden he decides to be on board for that. I've heard that he was one of those "difficult to deal with" types of actors on numerous sets which I don't appreciate. It has something to do with respect and ever since that interview when he said "I only did it because I knew these girls were funny" I could never take him seriously anymore. He was amazing in Groundhog Day and even Zombieland of course and I'll always love to re-watch those movies. But Ghostbusters 2016 sucked and Ghostbusters Afterlife wasn't all that much greater.... My favorite Ghostbuster is still and always has been and always will be Ray.

Unpopular opinion or not, an opinion is an opinion. As I recall back in 2011, Bill Murray said he would do another Ghostbusters movie if they killed him off (Which explains why they killed off his character the paranormal skeptic in the 2016 remake), and though he disliked working on Ghostbusters 2, he LOVED working on the 2009 Ghostbusters game.

In fact, the game's story was written by Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis, which means the 2009 Ghostbusters game was the last Ghostbusters script they've written! Back in 2009-2012, Dan Akroyd said many times that he considers the game to be the third movie, since the game's story is set in 1991, less than two years after Ghostbusters 2. But now that Ghostbusters Afterlife is here, the 2009 game is actually Ghostbusters 2.5 Know what is much more beautiful about the game? 18:50 The ghosts in Ghostbusters 2 (and 1) were both done using puppets, generally. Slimer for instance (the green one that eats a lot) is a real live puppet - they record its real live performance of him shoveling food into his mouth, then composite him over the footage with a ghostly effect and transparency. That's why it looks so photorealistic, and animates so well. I think a few things, like the Scolari brothers, are a bit of stop motion.

GHOST JOGGER: The Jogger's origins were undiscovered but based on the habit of checking its pulse, it was believed he died a sudden death like a heart attack.[2] The Jogger manifested several times each day on Central Park's running paths. Runners and horses were scared by his sudden appearances but the ghost started out as mostly benign. However, as he appeared more and more, the ghost became more aggressive and even began shoving runners out of his way.[3] The Ghostbusters were able to easily calculate the time of its next manifestation thanks to its predictable routes. Peter sat on a park bench near the reservoir with a Trap and captured it. POLARITY RECTIFICATION TRIPODS: In late 1989, some kind of major P.K.E. storm blew through Orrefors and affected the silicon molecules in the glass for sale. As a result, the very expensive glass items floated in mid-air. The Ghostbusters utilized the Polarity Rectification Tripods to neutralize the psychic disturbance. They set up one tripod in each of the four corners of the main display case. On Egon Spengler's word, Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz threw the switches. The tripods activated and lasers shot out. They effectively neutralized the glass but they simply came crashing down and shattered into pieces.

Honestly, I've only two real complaints about this film: the humor went more kid-friendly due to the popularity of the Ghostbusters cartoon series, and they didn't use the original score. The music in this film has too many really schmaltzy 80s tracks. That aside, the guys are all still really funny and work great together, and the effects have stepped up from the first one. By the way, make sure you stay through the credits of Afterlife...there's some good stuff there at the very end.

The first movie was originally going to introduce an already established team of Ghostbusters who were not appreciated and treated as frauds. Vigo the villain is the only real big change from the script as it was always Gozer the destroyer that was their first though-up villain. I can't remember who decided to make the change, but it was agreed to give the Ghostbusters an origin story of which makes a lot more sense and worked in their favor.
