If it was just a little cheaper, I’d cave. Very content with IK Multimedia’s Tape 80, but this looks wonderful, and I love the versatility you’re demonstrating. Thanks for taking the time to go in depth and make honest reviews!

The Arturia does sound and look nice, but so do the UAD Ampex, UAD Studer, IK multimedia Tape 80, the Waves J37 and the Kramer tape. Kiive Tapeface is a great plugin too and Softube Tape is brilliant on the mix bus! At €99, and considering I have all of the above, I think there's nothing about this plugin that makes it worth buying.

Studer on tracks then Ampex on the master... Very nice combi. I doubt this arturia plugin can beat that

Arturia used the Studer J37 used at Studio Barclay in Paris and Arturia's used a different set of tape formulas for the different configurations from Waves (which used EMI's tape formulas). I think it's good to have options in one's audio toolshed ;) =]

Really good tape delay thing, going on there... And i like the emphasis... It seems like a good color box. I'm not quite feeling that is sounding like a dead-ringer for a Studer though... It's nice though. Does it alias?

At default it aliases a bit, but you can turn on oversampling which gets rid of most of it.

I never understood that "Stop" FX. Tapes stop immediately, not like this. This is more like how Vinyl records sound when you stop, or even when you switch off your turntable.

Technically they do stop like this but much more subtle and faster.

How's the initial loading speed? I find that every plugin from arturia isn't fast on loading. 2-3 seconds most of the time.

I find the first Arturia plugin always loads slow but then usually the rest after load quicker. I think it has something to with the plugins reaching out to authenticate? I haven't tested this but I wonder if opening the portal before hand would improve launch times?
