Thanks for the video. Your time is coming at the camp. Your habitat is improving and you are correct. It's just a matter of time. Best of luck and good health in the new year. Thanks again, Rook.

Always look forward the the annual fireside chat. Hope you enjoyed the cigar (cool hat) Was nice hearing a recap of the season and the Q&A. Nothing wrong with Spy point cameras , I have 3 and they have worked flawlessly, just got the most recent model for Christmas. Walmart does have some good prices on clearance items, have picked up a variety of minerals and licks. Thanks for taking the time for all the great videos. Regards Mark

Thanks for watching Mark, I enjoy doing these! Cigar hit the spot for 10am. And I have 7 of them, (2 new around the holidays). For the most point they have been as you said, worked fine, and easy on the batteries. Hoping this year will be a big year, if we get a few more guys in the woods it may pay off. Thanks again Mark, look forward to trying a few of the others. The Montecristos look good!

Will continue with the program and see where it goes. Mike already put some minerals out while he was up. So it about a 8 month a year we do that. They are hitting some of the stuff planted around my stand now also.

Enjoyed the chat! I cleaned out the local Walmart and tractor supply on minerals earlier this week. I would be ok with a sunday opener in PA, its rough getting home from camp in WV friday evening and being ready for the saturday opener. The only benefit to the weekend opener for me is it allows us to hunt the opening day in Ohio.

Enjoyed the talk and look forward to your next cabin video. I get to my cabin when I can in the winter to work or coyote hunt but not when it’s sub zero. As far as Xbows go I have to use one because of shoulder replacements but we should go back to medical permits (I do miss using a vertical bow) The first day movement, I have commented I’d love to see it go back to Monday but would settle on a Sunday just don’t see it happening. Finally love seeing Shawn with you as I love hunting with my son. Good luck and good hunting.

Thanks, appreciate it. Would really like to head up there now, but just a little too hairy on the road for me. Don't mean too sound too negative on the crossbow, but I know it is taking away from people being in the wood during rifle season. Nothing like having some one bump one to you. Sunday would be great, but I think I was given some bad info, I can't find that anywhere. Enjoy the time with your son, take care!
@just-one-moreoutdoors557

@ didn’t take it as negative just your opinion. The last 5 years I harvested a buck with my bow but spent just as much time in the woods pulling bucks out for guys at my camp or taking my rifle for a walk (always get doe tags so I can have the gun) as I too love rifle season.

Cool to hear the history of the gang, always wondered about that. Always enjoy the deer camp videos they look like such a good time. Congrats on the buck you killed awhile back, i think you said he was your biggest ever. I killed my biggest ever this season too out on texas public land, 142” 11 point. I was beyond ecstatic. Took me 4 hours to drag him back to the truck he was massive.

You have a cabin to hunt there. I’m with you as I have 196 acres in southern tier ny and that’s what I want to hunt. No driving, just walk out and hunt and walk back and warm up. If you get something that’s great but if not the time there is worth its weight in gold

Hey Tom, Great fireside chat. So glad to see you using the money clip! I got a nice thanks from your brother also. That was a hunt to be remembered. I wanted to comment on xbow/compound bow discussion portion of the chat. The number 1 goal of any hunter should be a clean harvest. Xbows for me personally have opened up the possibility of being in the woods in October and November before gun season doing what I love to do. I never shoot over 35 yards . Thats my personal choice…I feel that is what is comfortable and I don’t force the shot I don’t feel comfortable with. I also feel with the accuracy of these xbows my harvests are dying within short range from 30 to 70 yards. Also, I love hunting with a rifle and the xbow is just so similar. I love hunting with the xbow. It’s really been a game changer for me. I’m not sure why there is this “bad rap” on the xbow. People do stupid things with compound, xbow, shotgun, and rifles and take shots they shouldn’t but that is on the each hunter and their ethics. If used responsibly xbow allows someone like me whose time is limited to get into the woods and enjoy the season to its fullest. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy a quiet winter! Look forward to the spring trip!
@whiterook85
@whiterook85 4 күн бұрын
Tim, Yes thanks, have it with me every time I go out. The part I was saying about xbows is that it appears to be taking people out of the woods during PA rifle season. Sometimes you need a few extra people in the woods to stir things up. Plus the technology on the newer ones just a tad much to call it a bow (to be used in bow season). In PA they need to shorten that season down like they do for all the different types of firearms. Maybe I'm bitter because rifle season seems to be fading into the sunset.

Great video as always. I really look forward to watching and look forward to your spring trip. I am a volunteer Hunter Safety Course Instructor for the Pennsylvania Game Commission and I've seen or heard nothing about changing the opening day from Saturday to Sunday. I'm pretty sure it won't change at least this year. I'd like to see it change also but I really don't think it will. Keep up the awesome videos.

It’s smart right now to not take doe every hunter in Pa can get 6 doe tags and just killing them off. The bucks will be near the doe especially first couple days of rifle. It would be wise to check stands early then stay away for couple weeks. Mountain bucks trigger real easy and become nocturnal. That’s easy for me to say living near where I hunt but it’s fun to watch you guys the good ole hunting camp is surely going away these days.

Good advice Garth, wish we could get up there, check the stands, then have a few days of cool off time. The camp are a fun part of deer hunting, we hunt from the house in DE, convenient, but it lacks that feel. Take care!
