When you master ten songs, how can you change the settings from song to song in real-time? Is it a stop-and-go process to change the song presets saved?
@charlienyc1Ай бұрын
Presets and/or basic automation, no?
@onemic-theminimalistАй бұрын
@ I'm not sure how digitally controlled analog functions when it comes to multiple instances. I assume you only get one that sits on one track. If you move in the timeline from track to track, you would need ten units or stop-and-go to move the plug to the next track. Yes, you can have presets for each song, but you can't run it in real time or even bounce. It's not the ideal way to master an album.

Is about the Avalon VT 737SP cause this issue maybe appears on other gear that you maybe know...and I have one Avalon 737, but I have a problem and I don't know if it has happened to you... It works well, but when the artist stops singing for 2 or 3 minutes and then starts talking again to the microphone I notice a slight distortion and the gain is very low to the point that I have to ask the artist to shout on the mic and then it goes back to normal and I can record again. In other words, the gain is lost a little and the sound remains distant and distorted until either me or the artist sends a small scream into the microphone again. Has this ever happened to you ? Maybe with your knowdlege you can help me ...Thank you very much and a big hug...

Wait.... A digital controlled Analog EQ, fine, but how are they doing Band solo'n??? I'm not believing that... That would mean each band would need to be crossed-over like a multiband Comp, But you would not have that in a analog EQ due to phase issues it would introduce. I want an explanation.
@mikikus222Ай бұрын
Every eq works that way. It chops your frequency spectrum using filters/crossovers and then boosts or cuts that band.
@mikikus222Ай бұрын
@@rich1051414 you could literally do this fully analogue by just sending the selected band to the output of the unit
@TimDolbearАй бұрын
@@mikikus222 that's not correct. From the Sonimus website: EQ Basic Functioning The first invented equalizers were analog electronic circuits. These pieces of gear use resistors, capacitors, and inductors to process the audio. The result is a very small delay at specific frequencies that we call phase shift. The equalizer combines the phase-shifted signal with the original signal, changing the frequency response of the audio by boosting or cutting those specific frequencies and creating the EQ curves that we are familiar with today. The phase shift can produce artifacts in the audio. EQ designers try to minimize those artifacts, making them only audible in specific situations. This is why most equalizers are typically referred to as minimum phase equalizers. The electronic design of the equalizer specifies at what frequency the phase shift occurs, while the knob controls the blend between the original and phase-shifted signal - very much like the feedback control on a tape recorder-based delay.
@wesaudioАй бұрын
Those are analog filters (HPF & LPF) with quite a lot of dynamic switching to support whole spectrum. So It sets the analog filters for each frequency spectrum to be in the middle between the two. Everything is done in the analog world, it works also without plug-in connected.

Are you sure it's not "Third" harmonic distortion? (the knob THD)
@Leaf-fell26 күн бұрын
the best things in life are free,,, i dont mean free plugins,,, its all about levels ,, levels can make or break a track, changing the dynamics between instruments can bring or take away, like ingredients in a soup, too much or too little alters the taste dramatically. best of all, we already have it, just need to develope it, and enjoy.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE CHANGER LOOVVVEEEEEE IT
@akagerhardАй бұрын
Let me help you out with the downsides: It costs ~6000€, it takes away space, it consumes far more electricity than a plugin, since it's hardware, it will require maintenance at some point, it doesn't have a dynamic EQ function, it's limited to stepped values, you can't use it on multiple scources at the same time, there is not "dry/wet knob" and of course you need to dust it. I actually liked it's sound, but it's still just an EQ with the option for tube saturation. All the upsides it has compared to other analog EQs are very common and to be expected from plugins. PS: This is not a hate-post. This is just a post offering you a different perspective on how great and useful it actually is(n't) compared to other workflows.
