Very tempted. Northwinds is a great album. Some reviewer somewhere said it was the moment in DC's career when he could have gone in a Joe Cocker direction or a a hard rock direction and he chose the latter. But Northwinds provides glimpses of what could have been. To me, it shows what a versatile performer he could have been if he hadn't put himself in the hard rock box. There's something primal about his singing on Only My Soul too, like a howl from deep down. Remarkable singing.

Did David Coverdale include the rejected artwork for ‘Northwinds’ album in the booklet? I have the Connoisseur CDs which were remastered back then. The outtakes of ‘Sunny Days’ & ‘Peace Lovin Man’ aren’t included in this set. ‘Sweet Mistreater’ and ‘Shame The Devil’ are present in their original mixes and remixed variants.First out the box for me will be the remix of ‘Blindman’. I have watched another review of this set and apparently the quiet mid-section of ‘Only My Soul’ has been chopped out of the remix. There has been additional musicians added on WhiteSnake & NorthWinds. The new with Strings version of ‘Time And Again’ is very well done! However if any extra guitar needed doing then it should have been Micky Moody who got first dibs. Micky’s original guitar parts on WhiteSnake & NorthWinds were great, and still stand up today.

I buy box sets for the music. I enjoy seeing such ephemera as tickets and posters, but I HATE paying for reproductions. This format with its modest size and photos in a reasonably sized book is more my style. I don't need a scarf or marbles or buttons. Give me lots of music, and a decent companion book and save my money.

My favourite music from DC is from these Solo albums. This box should be essential to me but why the ”safecard” of naming it ’Whitesnake’??
@stormbringercoming8105Ай бұрын
I love Northwinds, but there’s a lot fluff to justify NOT plonking down $65+ hard earned dollars. Now, if DC would get down to giving the box set treatment to all the Whitesnake albums up to Slide It In. I know that there was one a couple of years ago, but it went out of print quickly, and there could’ve been so much more.

I was a bit disappointed with the lack of double-entendres which are obligatory when discussing Whitesnake. I was at least hoping to see Barry placing the book back into the box whilst saying "You've got to slide it in, right to the top." Still, it was good seeing a mention of The Enid in the book. I never really got into them but I was always intrigued when Tommy Vance played them on the Friday Night Rock Show.

Looking forward to getting this box set. Future Whitesnake guitarist Micky Moody handled all the guitar parts on the original albums, and in a perfect scenario it should have been Micky who handles the new guitar overdubs. I believe David has reached out personally to Micky to try and build some sort of a friendship again,but .. perhaps we will get to hear Micky’s take on that someday soon?
