I remember that summer just too well. And Whitesnake's 1987 album as one of the main determinants of that wonderful year... At that time people would not be so gullible as to believe in such a scam as the present "covid pandemia". Because they were at least remnant believers in God, his Son Jesus and Mary... If you don't believe in God, you are likely to believe in anything else. The amount of brainwashing followed by dechristianisation and apostasy has affected the whole world irreversibly.

I am sick and tired of all the talk of how good lead singers 'used' to be. Coverdale has earned the right to sing and tour as much as he bloody well wants as is any other 80's band! They don't sound as good now because of us, the fans. Look at the passion, effort and strength he put in here. Is there any wonder that he voice is going to be raspy 30 plus years later?? They gave it all to us back then and now we give them our loyalty. I go to as many as I can just to be there, and when I'm not I blast them at home. A little respect please.

@Marco-vw3mv Vandenberg who? Well at the time Adrian had released 3 major label albums before WS. Had a minor hit song and had toured the world several times with his Vandenberg band. At this point "in time" he was as well known as Campbell was in the guitar world. Not to mention had been asked to join WS and Thin Lizzy before Sykes joined both bands earlier. Now that said, Adrian's style does not fit WS, nor would it have fit Lizzy. His lead style is very staccato and very classical based (as can be heard on his 3 solo albums) as opposed to the hot rodded blues based style playing of Sykes or even Campbell. Afterall both were very much an offshoot of Gary Moore's rock style playing before he transitioned into a standard blues player. Further neither Adrian or Vivian "rarely" even attempted to play the solo's as Sykes played them, whereas the modern version of the band (Aldrich, Hoekstra etc..) makes a great attempt at keeping the solo's more faithful to Sykes. Check out Adrian's first three solo albums, although I'm not much a fan of the singer the songs are great and his playing is pretty incredible. As for WS, little doubt Sykes was a perfect fit both in his playing and writing. Too bad the ego's of Coverdale and Sykes couldn't be put aside. Lastly as much as I liked Sykes in WS (who I was able to see with WS opening for Quiet Riot) all those guys (Sykes, Campbell, Vandenberg) are three of my favorite all time guitarists.
@TheTN24
@TheTN24 Жыл бұрын
@Marco-vw3mv I guess you could "somewhat" include Vandenberg as part of the NWOBHM that started taking off in the early 80's. So his first couple albums was before the whole LA Scene exploded. Top 40 hit song, opened for Ozzy(w/Jake) and Kiss among others. I do believe had the singer been better they might have been a hit band because the music is great. Not that the singer is bad, just that it could have been better. Adrian was well known in guitar circles but since the band never broke big he was not as known as guys in Ratt or the Scorpions for example. In the guitar world though he was as well known as alot of those 80's players. I'm a huge fan of his first two records and his playing. Based on guys you like such as Lynch, Warren, Jake etc... I think you'll dig it. Those are all the players I dig as well. Adrian definitely has his own thing going though. His solo's are very compositional much like Rhoads. Give his old band from 82-85 a listen, you might dig it. His newer stuff is very different and not that much of a fan. My top guys in no particular order back in the day would be Sykes, Campbell, Vandenberg, Lynch, Schon, Vito, Randy, Nuno, Gary Moore, Jeff Carlisi and Scott Gorham. You have a great day as well.

I think that would be a possibility if these were full shows...most people forget this (because it is insane), but Whitesnake, with a #1 album that went on to sell over 10 million copies, was actually OPENING for Motley Crue on the Girls Girls Girls tour. Crazy, I know, but true. Whitesnake spent the better part of 5-6 months opening for the Crue when they should have been headlining all over the country. Management screwed that one up. But these were 45-50 minute sets, not the hour and a half a headliner would do.

One word…. Sykes.
@brandondickie3456
@brandondickie3456 Жыл бұрын
@@marcusdolby1 Sykes showed that talent and flamboyance is not always the key to success, sometimes you just have to have THAT one guitar player that just has that chemistry. He was destined to join Whitesnake even for such a short time that resulted in a terrible falling out with Coverdale. EVH was Van Halen, Richie Sambora was Bon Jovi, Chuck Schuldiner (probably because it was just his approach to songwriting for Death) was ‘Death’, Dimebag Darrell was Pantera. Steve Vai…was Steve Vai, and his creative expression was fully displayed when he was solo.
@marcusdolby1
@marcusdolby1 Жыл бұрын
@@brandondickie3456 Sykes was in Whitesnake for almost 4 years. He also wrote with Coverdale almost all the songs on 87. Coverdale payed him $2 million and he retained his songwriting credits. It’s one thing to join a band AFTER the songs have been written and recorded, it’s a completely different thing to write and record songs only to have Vandenberg, and Campbell air guitar the videos and play Sykes parts on tour.

I saw them 3 times on that tour and yes, it was obvious then and now that Viv and Adrian didn't cover the 87 material well. However, if it wasn't them on that stage, it was going to be someone else believe that! However, to all you Sykes lovers out there, if he hadn't been such a tool, not humble and so cocky. He would have been on that stage. So blame him!! Personality matters.
