That's an awesome recipe! I'm going to need a larger pot to give this a try, since I don't see my little nesting Stanley Adventure pot and GSI being able to do this.

haha i used hickory chips and i didn't use pines, i just used a small grill to keep it off the bottom. next time ill just use less wood chips and hopefully that will taste better. thanks for making videos man, every time i log onto youtube i check for new videos from you.

You had it right in the beginning, it was spruce twigs but after that you called it pines and it was not, it was spruce. Having said that I ordered and received wood chips for smoking fish in your method and can't wait to try it.

if you catch a bigger fish you can just get a big fire going let it burn down to coals. drag som juniper branches in water and put on top of the coals. put the fish on top and put more branches over. you need to keep an eye on it with a bottle of water so it doesnt burn but its really good to eat :) i have to try doing your way with a cooking pot, thank you for sharing.

I've heard that junipers rice is really good to use when you smoking fish and meat, it will give a special and good taste to it. We have a fish here in Sweden that is called "röding", I think it's called char in English, anyway they have a golden/red meat when you grill/smoke them and taste great too. Now I became hungry too.......... /NorthSurvival.

Nice video, but my forestry professor would be having a cow hearing you call a spruce a "pine"! A spruce and a pine are both evergreens, but a spruce is a spruce, a pine is a pine, and a fir is a fir and the terms aren't interchangeble for each other. I do appreciate the video , however! I've never seen anyone do a short term smoking in a pot as a way to cook fish. Thank you! I'm going to have to give it a try!

Pine doesn't create very good coals, so it isn't good for cooking. It also has a lot of pitch in it that, when it burns, gives a bad taste to the food. I was taught in the Boy Scouts the harder the wood the hotter the fire. Hardwoods are much better for cooking than any evergreen (pine, spruce, or fir) because they usually create a good bed of coals for cooking. It is preferable to cook over coals instead of flames because you can control the temperature easier. Coals give a constant temp.
