I do stand maintenance in summer. We farm and work a job. They on their own until oct nov and dec. being in southern climate they got to much to eat. Unless it’s Jan and feb. even then there some green somewhere. Seems food plot are really useless. From my research. Wish it did work. They have hundreds of acre’s of corn soybeans. Them deer could be anywhere!! Ask me how I know! Lol!!!

Thank you very much!! The concepts are all the same anywhere a whitetail roams...Layered bedding, depth of cover, green food plot bases, paralleling habitat features, summer doe factories, hunting pressure management, the risk reward of food plots, etc...just the habitat varieties change.

Recommendations for southeastern NC with sandy soil, food plots difficult to grow? Several low lying areas/swamps. Leased land, and not allowed to cut trees beyond just a few inches in diameter. The property is long and narrow, with public on 3 sides. I haven’t hunted long, and am just getting in to seeing what is on the property. I did harvest a couple does and 2-3yr old buck this past season. Really enjoy your channel and the information you share.

On a 250 acre property I hunt with a friend that owns it , we hold the same bucks in the summer as we do during the fall and winter , we get roughly 50-60 bucks year round and 90% are there feeding and staying during daylight and at night on the property , they have open areas during summer and thick areas for the fall and winter and summer food and fall and winter food , but on my 40 acres it’s different I get some bucks in summer but most bucks I get are October - December , I do have a few bucks that I get year round besides during February or so but it’s crazy that the 250 acres holds the same bucks year round besides a few disappear during fall and winter , but we gain new bucks every year and hold most year round , ig just due to there being 100 acres of fields in different sections of the property so they have open land for the summer but then there is also 150 acres of woods and a lot of it is thick and good bedding with tons of undergrowth , ig since there is summer habitat there plus fall and winter habitat they stay there pretty much year round because there is both types of habitat on the property so they don’t have to travel to another property to find different habitat

Jeff, us Yoopers need a video on placement of bait in regard to the feeding 5 times in a 24 hour period and how it fits into the plan. Obviously no pressure bait, but where does it go?! Between doe bedding and 3rd feeding? Between 3rd feeding and 4&5th feedings? Or does it take the place of the 3rd feeding,maybe set it up to be the 4th feeding? Idk...Thanks for all your info!

Your thoughts on sweet corn to compete with surrounding field corn and sorghum for late season deer food and winter pheasant cover?
@whitetailhabitatsolutions97513 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason! I wouldn't worry about the variety as much as whatever corn gives you the best volume and lasts the longest. Also as far as pheasants you want a lot more habitat than corn and with corn being fairly open by ewrly winter...pheasants in many corn fields are easy pickings to birds of prey. In most areas sorghum is fairly poor deer food...with the exception being very high deer density or zero ag/quality habitat areas

Good morning Jeff. Would you consider doing a video on basic to mid level food plot equipment needed for a successful plot? Brand suggestions that have a proven quality. Things like chemical sprayers for the ATV, seed spreaders, cultipackers, or any other equipment that will help. I don't mind spending the money for quality, however I've already made some poor choices in spreaders and sprayers that needed to be replaced. I'm hoping to, in the future, buy once - cry once, then be set for my future plots without having to replace junk I should have avoided. Thank you for looking. Have a great day.

Sorry..every outdoorsman doesn't have the means to own their own slice of heaven, I own 4.3acres with a small creek that runs through. It's all I have. My wife owns with her siblings just under 1000 acres that I've been hunting for over 20years 85 miles north. So now that her dad and two brothers passed that farmed the ground her sisters and one brother don't want to cash rent cause they don't want to be bothered by all that. They'd rather just rake in a few million. My wife doesn't want to sell cause she wants to leave her part to our kids,grandkids her share. It's all up in the air right now and I'm half afraid to bring it up cause it's not mine even though I treat it and love the property as if it were mine. So it probably won't be long when the only hunting spot I have is at home on my 4.3acres.

Hi Jeff, Would you be willing to make a video about rehabilitating land that’s been damaged by wildfire? Would you view it as a unique opportunity, or is it too much effort? If you were looking to buy ground, would you avoid land that’s been damaged by wildfire even if it was really good hunting ground before the fire?

@whitetailhabitatsolutions97513 жыл бұрын
Hi Denny I dont...and it isn't a good idea I'd deer aren't used to the corn already, in mid winter. Also...there are very few areas where deer experience winter die off or appreciable winter severity...Northern MI, Northern WI and MI...upstate NY. That's about it...the deer will be fine, this is a very light winter even in most of those areas.

He's going to tell you just forget the shed it's too much of a risk you may spook that book if you're going to do that he's going to tell you to do it a month and a half after the season ends I don't know if you run cell cameras around a place where you can have cameras but throw one in there if you got bucks hanging around in there right now it's probably cuz there's food there when the food is gone they'll probably leave
