Two springs ago I ordered four trees from MrMaple in the spring. One was a moonrise in a 2 gallon so it was in their long box. The FedeX truck backed up my driveway and I saw the truck and walked out there. The kid doubled over the box and threw the box out. When I got I yelled what are you doing there with my trees in there. He yelled it ain't my F'n problem! I about got into a fight with that goober. I called FeDeX and they fired him. MrMaple sent me replacements for all those trees. Guess what? I planted the four trees and three of them ended up better shaped than the replacements at least so far. lol Late fall and early winter when trees are dormant has always been better for me. They establish better and get off to a much better start than spring or summer planted on trees and shrubs. Whitman Farms is great too and you are so right about the shipping companies. Don't get me started on USPS! lol Nice story Mr Nutz and I like that name!!!!!

I got a completely broken Aureum during a winter order. I decided to just leave it in the pot, a few weeks later I saw a tiny bud coming out from just above the graft and a month later it blew up into a nice looking tree.

Just be glad that the branches are/were flexible enough. I'm just wondering that the tree looks so dry. The rootball did not seem very dry already. But ok, 7 days in a dark box...

7 days and it was dark and hot. You can tell that this tree been through a lot.

I also don't like when trees/plants are shipped on a thursday or friday. Every good nursery should not do this!

Oh that's a darn shame. I hope the tree recovers soon because even though it looks like heck right now, it has a beautiful structure.

I know, if this tree recovers it’s going to make for a great look tree. 🤩🤩🤩

FedEx lost my tree from Whitmans farm for over a week when I called fedex they didn’t care but it was finally delivered and the way it was packed it was in perfect condition and still moist

What tine of year? Temperature? It’s hot where I’m at right now. As you can see the box, and the actual tree, it wasn’t in perfect conditions. It looks like is going to make it thou. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have been ordering trees online for five years and these are two lessons I have learned. Never order larger trees, they are going to come damaged. Just one example, I had ordered a 5 gal crepe myrtle and the box was torn in two and halfway in the street. Fedex employees don't care. I only order in late fall or winter to avoid any problem with heat stress. So sorry about your tree, I know how you feel.

Never purchase any plants online while they leave out in spring until all the leaves turn into the mature stage(about June), that's how I learnt from my past five years of gardening experience. Because when they leave out in spring is the buds form into branches, the new branches and joint of them just so fragile and weak during this time. so sorry about your tree, really wish it will take off after the stress.

Was this field grown?
@MapleNutz7 ай бұрын
Yes, it was field grown. Ms Whitman’s JMs are very nice because she field grow almost all her JMs.

@@MapleNutzThank you for your reply. Would you say the difference between a gallon and field grown is very noticeable?
@MapleNutz7 ай бұрын
Yes, your tree should be a lot more vigorous when field grown. Trunk is much thicker and should have a well developed flare. Ms Whitmans trees are amazing. Tell her I sent you because I think she hates me because of this video. Put a word for me bro, it was the shipping company’s fault, not hers. Lol

I’m sorry but that tree looks really stressed,hopefully it will make it but like you said is going to take a lot of time,they should in my opinion use a faster way to make those trees get to customers ,thank you for sharing.

Hi, I placed an order with Maplestone Ornamentals last evening and still haven't received a confirmation or acknowledgement. I'm starting to panic, and I've written to them twice, there's no phn# on their website. Can you shed any light on this? Are they normally this slow to acknowledge?
@JeremyStockman-gw8iy Жыл бұрын
They are my go to nursery. You WILL get your order. Don't worry.

Derek, how do you go about contacting Lucile. I’d like to order but don’t know if text or email is better? Do you know how to get her contact info?
@MapleNutz9 ай бұрын
Text is better. Tell her I sent you because she is mad at me for this video. She didn’t watch the whole thing and thought I was criticizing her instead of the shipping company. It’s sad she is mad.
