I was lifted out of my seat the first time I heard this. I don't think anyone was expecting what she did here. There are many celebrated, extremely talented singers with similar abilities and range as Whitney - some with MORE range - but none are her equal. None have her Heaven-sent tone. Her voice in her prime was rare magic, completely undefinable, like a shooting star visiting us once in a thousand lifetimes. I've never heard another singer deliver such drama with her voice - forcing you to hang on her every word, creating suspense and tension with her extraordinary phrasing, making you anticipate what wonders could possibly be coming next, telling a complete story from start to finish. Whitney was everything. And still is.

Have y’all ever reacted to Whitney’s trio of “I Love You Porgy”, “I Am Telling You” and “I Have Nothing”? One of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It brings me to tears every single time I watch it. There’s not an artist today that could do that trio. Incredible.

The Original version is by the composer of the song Donny Hathaway. Donny wrote beautiful music during the 70s. He suffered from Schizophrenia and eventually committed suicide. This song is very popular in the African American community. This song as well as many others donny wrote are almost tradition. They have been passed down from generation to generation.

Thank you for mentioning Donny Hathaway, a prodigiously talented singer, songwriter & composer. She took the spirit of his song & elevated it with her incredible instinct for interpretation of lyrics. When you consider how Donny, then Whitney passed, you have to wonder if this kind of deep connection to giving soul baring performances took a toll? RIP Donny & Whitney ❤

You are both super, the alter-ego of Robin Williams aka Mrs. Doubtfire, then, is truly the clone. I know by heart and I recorded it the 1991 Welcome Home Heroes, Nippy's unparalleled voice, as you also said, pure velvet, but if he sank his claws in his own way he managed to dig into your heart. Many have performed that song, but the ability, in every arrangement they made of it, made it his. There is also another version made after his return to the scene, in a more rhythmic key, which certainly like all the tracks on that last album, presents a completely different voice, I'm not an expert, like you, but I think there there were many corrective devices in the post recording, because listening to the same songs, including this one, in Berlin, in Milan... in the various live shows, in that horrible tour that they forced him to do, it is devastating, as it was reduced both her, that her precious voice, and if I knew who to turn to, I would make sure that those humiliating scenes disappeared from the web. But now it's gone....however, his legacy remains, that of when he was a perfectly tuned instrument, and capable of making the same song unique, every time he performed it, with its pauses, phrasings, notes held for a time that seemed infinite, supernatural to still find breath. I hope that wherever she is now, she has found the peace that was denied to her on earth. Thanks for your reaction.

Thanks for doing my Whitney " Live," Recommendations. Next do Lisa Fischer ... singing "How can I Ease The Pain?" (The "Live" version). Next I recommend Anita Baker...singing "You Bring Me Joy" the LP version (don't think there's a live for this one). But she's "live" on "Sweet Love". But still do You Bring Me Joy first. You'll appreciate hearing her before seeing her!!! Mike C. Clarksville VA.❤you guys.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZzdlKeols-NaqM As he had already reduced her in 1994, thin, with dark circles, and her voice and appearance no longer what they were just 3 years earlier. The number one of her executioners, a musical failure, who stripped her very well.
