NO ONE... I mean no one, this day and age, can outright, flat-foot SANG such a vocally complicated song and yet direct the band and moment like this woman. It's the combination of her voice, ear, beauty and sheer stage presence. And her band was SICK! I also like that we see some of her humanity here where she did kind of go off key during the second verse but somehow didn't let it phase her and managed to seamlessly cue to give her more in the monitor. And someone just pointed out recently... she never used in-ear monitors.

@@TheRemixstress It's not a joke - it's a fact - which is why Franklin tops every music industry poll as the greatest voice in recording history - as well as being hailed as the greatest by just about every renowned singer in the pop world from the 1960s to the present day, every musician, every producer, every writer and critic - Franklin is revered and established and written into the history books as the greatest most influential and inspirational voice. Houston's output can never match Franklin's recordings - and Franklin's art form and stage presence leaves all others - including Houston - trailing in her wake. Franklin quite simply had a more beautifully toned, diverse, agile and bigger voice - with perfect phrasing - inimitable melisma and speed of vocal runs - and just all round artistic beauty and instinct and musicianship. Her talent is unmatched - Whitney said it and so did her moma - and so did every other great singer. There you go - some clarity and perspective for you.

@@TheRemixstress You read my every word and your delusion is unfathomable if you actually believe that Aretha's being lauded as the greatest voice - as far back as the Columbia years - her being hailed as the greatest voice by the greats like Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan - and declared as the greatest by every generation of singer and musician ever since - if you think that such reverence is born out of some false sense of sentimentality and that these people didn't really mean what they said - then all I can suggest is that you seek an urgent review in clinic and maybe a change to your medication.
