@@tameikabrown Actually, it was Aaliyah who she initially wanted to play Sparkle, but then she passed. That's why Whitney had let the idea of the movie go for 13 years. You can look for the interview on KZbin where she said "Aaliyah was our Sparkle". So they definitely crossed paths.
