Love this performance 👏 She tore it up that night. Huge thing about Whitney is how she sings, hums runs something during the supposed vocal breaks. So much music in her she finds any space within a song for more Whitney and then sneaks right back in the pocket. Her Mic is Always On Legend

Lover Man is a song that Billie Holiday sing and releases back in 1945. Diana Ross also sang it, and so did Barbara Streisand. Whitney incorporated this into her set during this era (I’m Your Baby Tonight) and as you can see it was phenomenal. Whitney really could sing darn near every genre of music. She was just that darn good. Whitney singing I Am Changing (San Francisco 1986) is a must listen-I say that because there’s no video just audio. Broadway, RnB, pop, opera, gospel-Whitney’s voice knew no limits. I always listen to this performance for one reason, when those instruments were struggling to keep up with her voice!!

Yay! One of my favorite performances of her's! BTW the dress was all one color. A couple of years after this came out I saw a presentation in a Theatre class in college on how lighting could change the color of a garment and it made me think of this performance LOL.

Best live version of this song, she had to let all the fans know including Mariah, we ain't the same! This was the first night her and Mariah were at the same award show after the media was comparing Mariah to her and some fans that were not real Whitney fans were saying Mariah was a better singer which we all know was never true!

Mariah's voice is no where as powerful or connected as Whitney's. Mariah was already deteriorating at this time, Whitney's was still strong even with cigarette, drugs, alcohol.
