I remember with clarity my reaction at the news of her death. My coworker texted me and gasped so loud my mother who was in the next room thought I was having a medical emergency. I immediately turned to CNN, watched hours of coverage, cried and the next day watch her videos on KZbin. Whitney was pregnant with her daughter in the video. Rest in peace Whitney and Bobbi Kristina.

@@danloveswhitney No one implied it was any other way than Whitney inviting Chaka to participate in the video. Chaka is very particular about who she works with, she didn't have to agree, but she did. Success as an artist has nothing to do with paying respect to the original. This wasn't a tit-4-tat comment. They are both vocal Queens. It is just nice for the younger generations to learn that many times with R&B, there are artists who came before...

Remember you guys did Chaka Khan, "I'm Every Woman" it was the original. Whitney remade it while she was pregnant with her and Bobby Brown's daughter Bobbi Christina. She gives props to Chaka in it as well. I hope you guys do more Chaka Khan " Hot Butterfly" and "Through the Fire" are BANGERS!

you really can't overstate the impact she had on music when I was in school. She was revolutionary. So much talent and control, it was insane.

Whitney's voice is a human treasure. Dead or alive, she is for sure the best female voice in music history. Whitney Houston was a born star. she was a gift from mother Nature The golden standard of a females voice. everyone wishes they could sound like her, men and women. The world's greatest singer. Whitney is a master of all the techniques, 1) resonance, 2) Vibrato, 3) Colorature 4)inflections 5) scaling up and down 6) natural 7)falsetto or soft soprano for a woman 8) throat, diaphram and head singing 9) Crescendo and decrescendo and breath control 10) staccato and perfect diction Than to top THAT, she was also physically the MOST beautiful singer to ever exist as well

To get a little flavour of the songs that first made Whitney famous, try "How Will I Know" or "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." She was in her early 20s then. These ones are huge favourites of mine, for sure. Fun, energetic songs.

Whitney sang backup on Chaka Khan’s version from the 70’s. She was a teenager too. Then she recorded this in the nineties and Chaka was in the video. So good!
