Lyrics:
Didn't we almost have it all
When love was all we had worth giving?
The ride with you was worth the fall my friend
Loving you makes life worth living
Didn't we almost have it all?
The night we hold on 'til the morning
You know you'll never love that way again
Didn't we almost have it all?

it makes me cry sometimes though hearing her sing because this was a god-given gift so obviously and so beautifully.... the COCOON OF GREEDY A## FAMILY+ FRIENDS...,( the "YES!" people tin her life that wanted to use her as a ATM machine... have blood on their hands .. don't let it happen in your family. no matter what, you must be brave and ask for help for yourself or for the one you love. remember that substance use disorder is a family illness as well, and families need to educate themselves about it! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

@Paolo A. No no my friend.. there will NEVER be another Whitney Houston. It would be EXTREMLEY difficult to have that perfect sound that could literally do anything. Only ones I see come SLIGHTLY and key word here is SLIGHTLY similar/close would be Cissy(in youth), Dionne(in youth), Cece, Glennis, Tarralyn. The difference is there are many talented singers but Whitney was GIFTED! Hands down no questions asked. 💯❤

My Whitney story. I am in my seventies and I was at that concert 3rd row with my friend Gina. This was one of the eight concerts that I saw Whitney in the mid eighties, all in NY state. I met and talked to her on two occasions, once in Lake Placid and also Saratoga. We were obsessed with her and new we were seeing musical history in the making. At Lake Placid, we went to the Holiday Inn where they were staying around noon (the day of her concert) and saw Ricky Miner and some of her band in the lobby. Everyone was nice and told us Whitney would be coming to the restaurant at some point. Gina and I waited in the narrow hallway. About 30 minutes went by and we looked up and there was Whitney, Robyn Crawford and a bodyguard face to face 3 feet away from us. It was probably the most exciting, surreal feeling I have ever had. Having seen all her videos numerous times she was so beautiful like a Barbie doll come to life right before our eyes. It was just the 5 of us. We told her how much we loved her and couldn't wait to see her that night. We talked to her for about 5 minutes and she signed my vinyl album. A little later she came out of the restaurant and signed some autographs. Gina and I talked to Robyn off to the side during that time and she was really cool. We were in the first row that night. We had seats in row 16 already so we gave two girls $100 to change seats with us. Of the 8 times I saw her, 5 of those were 1st or 2nd row from stage. Too see Whitney live was so incredible and there is no doubt in my mind she is the greatest singer of all time (I have seen many of the best during my life). This video at Saratoga Maybe the best of all of her live videos and I feel so blessed to have been there to see it. I remember her telling the audience they were doing the video and everyone was so excited about it. I also met her brother Gary at Saratoga Radisson hotel in the afternoon of her concert and he gave me 2 3rd row seats after I showed him my 300 page album I had made to honor her. She looked thru my album and jokingly asked if I was giving it to her and I said I don't think so, she autographed my album which I still have. I also gave her roses each of the two years she performed at the NY state fair when she did her first song, one being "How will I Know".

I love how in the beginning, it's like she is telling the audience a story, taking them down memory lane etc. However, by the end of it, she was completely immersed in her reminiscing, to the point where you are brought to tears by what she must've been feeling and reliving at the time. It's so rare to see such an honest and vulnerable performance, underpinned by unspeakable talent... Miss you Ms Whitney!!

This is what makes me happy ! When people like you can describe a voice.. it’s more than just holding a note. When you have the techniques as you mentioned, THATS when I will listen to these current singers. Whitney and others from her time had talent, and they had some of the techniques you mentioned! But by all means, Whitney had the whole formula from resonance, pitch, accuracy, melismas, agility, falsetto, dynamics, breath control, connected registers, interpretation, musicality, I could go ON! She wasn’t human 😭✨

Whitney number 1, she was amazing live, outsang Mariah, and she taught 5 generations how to sing. Then you have Celine who is also great live and snatches the second place for consistency, third is Mariah, who is amazing in studio, has the best technique, and was phenomenal during her prime.

Is that all you dialed into? Her voice? What about her message, soul shining thru her heart, passion, love and love to her fans, her soaring heights, her ability to "paint" her emotions and deeper feelings with her words, her total mental, emotional, physical and spiritual commitment to her songs message. To name a few. Those are some of the things I thought special. Whitney Houston, Goddess of the Universe.

***** I believe what Ricky and Paul are saying is simply this, She was the Greatest Singer there was. Yes, there are other great singers, but she perfected her craft. It's something in her voice and what she did was effortless on her part. God given talent. Nothing bad meant towards any other singers, she was just GREAT! at what she did.

Whitney is praised for her Superbowl performance on the national anthem. I have always felt that this was Whitney’s best performance ever. There is something so pure about it. She is clearly singing to someone she is in love with. I believe this performance is about her love for Robyn her true love. I hope Whitney is at peace now. 🕊❤️

@@malindatodd8423 Whitney's performance of One Moment in Time is good too. I love Didn't We Almost Have It All because it is so raw and pure. Whitney was unpolished and authentic, I always felt that she was saying goodbye to the love of her life. Didn't We Almost Have It All was from Whitney's second album. She was not a superstar yet but she was on her way up. I have always felt Whitney was in the process of making a heartbreaking choice of choosing her career over love. To me it seems that every bit of her heartbreak was laid bare on the stage the night she did this performance. I am so glad it was recorded and used as a video for the song. I never could have imagined when I used to play in on my VCR over and over again that Whitney would pass away young.

@Miss_Marnie
@Miss_Marnie Жыл бұрын
@@angelsublime Robyn Crawford was Whitney Houston’s best friend and assistant. Robyn is a woman and there were always rumors that she and Whitney were lovers. Since Whitney’s death, Robyn revealed that the rumors were true. Bobby Brown has confirmed that Whitney was in a relationship with Robyn before he married Whitney. He said he did not know Robyn and Whitney were more than friends until after he married Whitney. Whitney could not come out as gay or bisexual because the music industry was not having it. Also, Whitney’s mother Cissy was not accepting of any notion of Whitney being gay. I saw Cissy in an interview she was asked would she have a problem if it was revealed that Whitney was gay? Cissy said Yes! Cissy was asked the question again she said Yes! I believe Whitney could not truly be herself. She was in a tough spot. Whitney could have happiness with Robyn or phenomenal singing career. Part of having that career was no longer being with Robyn romantically. hI believe this performance was her goodbye to her true love.
