So refreshing to see a program uplifting Whitney instead of bashing her. One love

Grandissima Whitney ❤🌹

Burt Bacharach just died and he and Dionne Warwick had a magical relationship that produced the great hits on this video, among others. I was a little kid when these hits came out but I remember them being on the radio and get a nostalgic feeling from them. I was 21 when Whitney Houston went big and I absolutely LOVE Whitney Houston. I cried when she died. Her music was in the background to a lot of my life's significant moments of the time. You know how at that age, everything is dramatic. Well, Whitney Houston's music was the perfect backdrop to those moments.

This is one of my favorite performances of Nippy singing Alfie. My Hod she sang with so much love, passion, pain, and conviction. She gave all of her when she sang for instance "There’s a heaven aboveeeeeeeeee” that part gets me every time❤️ Only one Whitney Houston.
@christhompson7345 Жыл бұрын
What is absolutely incredible, magical and astonishing is that Whitney could elevate a beautiful classic Bacharach standard like Alfie and take the lyrics and melody to another level. I'd argue all day long that Whitney deserves to be included in the conversation that when it comes to telling a story and delivering a message through song she is pretty much un-matched. Were as others are artists are defined by their genre, Whitney transcended genre...she delivered Pop, RnB, Hip Hop, Jazz, Gershwin, Opera, Blues with effortless ease. Love her and miss her. Simply the GOAT!

I totally agree. This is one of my favorite performances of hers. She had the ability to take an old song and make it sound like an original effortlessly 💜

I've been a Whitney fan since "You give good love," I've seen her live 3 times, and I didn't know I could love her even more now that she's with her heavenly father. She will always be the singer everyone is compared to. WEH, luv u grrrl. U da bestest!

@@awordfrompresidentpat1985 This special was amazing. I remember when it aired, I was working for the Hut of Pizzas and they tried to call me into work that night. I laughed at my manager and smoothly hung up the phone. One of my favorite songs that night was her singing I Go To The Rock. Whitney singing is phenomenal but Whitney singing gospel is heavenly.

just right now ive heard cynthias, chakas, the original dionnes.. whits version ive heard before.. and hearing it again reminded me that shes really the VOICE. All other versions are damn good but this right here is signature whitney.. and she made it the best.

And Whitney was not in the very best vocal prowess that night, this was sang late in her program, and she had already belted A number of songs out. But still, the Whitney Houston stamp is on the song she could call anything her own.! That’s just how much of a queen she really was
