At 5:38, it’s one of the very few occasions we heard Whitney sing words in her full head voice (yes, she did sing in her head voice, but rarely full phrases). Absolutely marvelous! Just listen to how those words ring in their velvety tone. Her voice was so beautiful.
@ppgenterprise79504 жыл бұрын
Marco Murillo actually she sang full phrases in her head all the time from 85-92 she also did it often in 93/94 but it was getting harder. However it was very rare to hear it from 96-99. But in 2010 she sang a whole phrase in her head voice which was amazing
@bartek84064 жыл бұрын

"Hold Me" , was written by Michael Masser and Linda Creed, while the production was overseen by Masser who used one of his earlier arrangements that he had produced for "In Your Arms", a song recorded by singer DIANA ROSS for her 1982 album Silk Electric, on the duet. "Hold Me" is a ballad duet performed by American singers Teddy Pendergrass and Whitney Houston from the former's eight studio album Love Language (1984). "Hold Me" was Houston's first ever single of her career and was later included in Houston's 1985 self-titled debut album.

Whitney in her prime was unmatched, even if Celine or Mariah was around that era they will find it hard to equalled or matched Whitney's voice. Her voice is so powerful and she can shift many styles and acrobatics in any form or shapes when it comes to singing. she's just like playing. Her voice adjusting in a very simple way which in fact a very difficult way to do.
@kennyknight078 жыл бұрын
+Divas Live +Divas Live Mariah / Celine were WH wana be> Celine gained recognition from singing contest / like one of those american idols / the voice > singing "The greatest love of all" when she was 13, after WH debut in 85. Mariah was a waitress.... met SONY music president who was about 50 something when she was 16 or so. There u go Mariah went all the way to the top.
@kennyknight078 жыл бұрын
+kenny knight they were both WH wana be. Between 90 to 98, WH were pushed away from recording her own solo album, bcos SONY label were pushing Mariah in 90 Celine in 94, Tony braxton in 93, 96, to sell their album. WH 's presence would have been in those girl's way. Tony gave interesting interview after her biopic "Unbreak my heart" That she was sign under contract, that the label would abuse her financially... (fuck her up bad), and was forced to work literally like "slave" She was famous but did not make any money. I can imagine, WH could have fallen into the trap of the evil industry. Having to work with no sleep... thus lead her into substance abuse.. To function... 24/7.
@kennyknight078 жыл бұрын
+kenny knight look at the way WH music style had to change from more "White" To completely "Black" departing her original style when she debut, 90 album more urban >> then sound track 92 bodyguard / 94 waiting to exhale / 96 the preacher's wife = first gospel album. 98 completely hip hop which WH admitted herself that she hated that she had to change her style to the type of music any body can sing= hiphop. I will post that interview later,... She said "what could I do... I just had to sing to the floor" .... something like that. The rest ... is history... After clive davis leaving arista, WH demanded to produce do everything by herself... and release her own album in 02... .which failed completely..... without enuf support from the label... Until 09,,,, she didn't get a chance to release any album, due to the breakdown of her personal life.... The rest... u know what happened. Her family pushed her to do live concert.... as she would not make any thing out of album, = she signed ??hundred million $ advance. So she had to do world tour under that condition. It must be so painful having to go thru that ordeal... so sad...

@@kennyknight07 Make some research before writing so untrue and dumb statements. The industry can't create some whitney Houston wannabe like Mariah, Celine or Toni. Their legacy is so big because they are true legend and true artist in their own right. Celine Dion was already a recording artist in Canada even before Whitney first album came out, she was just not a big thing in Canada, she later on represented France at Eurovision in 1988 and won. Her career got a push when her first English Album came out due to a larger audience and that she was in a bigger recording company working with the best song writers and producers like David Foster. Mariah was a trained singer when Whitney first came out, you have to know she is 7 years younger than Whitney. When Whitney's first album came out she's 15 but already makes demo, writes her own songs...She met Mottola when she was 18 and was not a waitress at that time but a backup singer for Brenda k Starr who introduced her to him because she saw the potential and by the way he was 38. Whitney's prime vocally was from 88 to 92, nobody pushed her to the side to let other artists flourish. She was in the hands of Clive Davis who was already very big and influential in the 80's. Whitney and Mariah were not in the same music company. Barista and Sony were rivals. Mariah came out in 90 in the middle of whitney prime, it didn't stop her from getting recognition, her first album was phenomenal. The bodyguard soundtrack to this very day is whitney biggest success. Mariah, Celine and Toni were already around. So everything you've said doesn't make any sense. Contrary to Mariah, Whitney doesn't write her songs except for 1 or 2 songs she wrote. Therefore in terms of freedom she relies more on song writers, Mariah does not. All that to say you don't need to tear those ladies down to elevate Whitney, her talent is enough. They all contributed to the music industry and should all be respected for that.
