I have been singing for most of my life and even professionally for a good chunk. What Whitney Houston does live is by far one of the most MIND BLOWING vocal performances you'll ever experience. Even when I think that I have a good handle on my instrument...I hear what she does, OFF TH CUFF, in front of millions, and it's beyond my comprehension. I could only dream to be a tenth as skilled as Whitney ever was.

Those are great songs, but the true Magic of Whitney was her live performances not just her songs! I am a big fan of Whitney she was surely the voice of Her generation. But her life performances sound different than her album or the movie. There was a lot of Technology available to her that wasn't available to one of my other favorite singers Karen Carpenter. I can't say who was the best you must decide for yourself. There’s I Am Changing (audio only San Francisco 1986) My Man/Lover Man/ All The Man I Need, Didn’t We Almost Have It All (she’s in a leather jacket and jeans), All The Man I Neec--there’s several performances of that song that are all stellar like the HBO special (in a red dress) on the Arsenio Hall show and in a different red dress in Japan. One Moment In Time at the Grammys…but to truly hear Whitney greatness you have to listen to her singing gospel. There’s an audio of her singing He I Believe (Japan 1990) thats amazing and at the end you’ll understand why Whitney had the BEST head voice in popular music. I prefer her live performances. One in particular is The Greatest Love of All (Wembley) is phenomenal as well.
