The whole music industry weren't prepared for her talent and artistry. They people there weren't expecting it either. With no dancers and lightening she set the whole stage on fire. Lovely couples. Please!! Whitney’s true love was Robyn, and the mess began when her BROTHER gave her her first hard drugs, which she then went on to use to ‘bridge the gap’ between the public persona, which was almost totally manufactured, and the real girl/ woman…Nippy!! There are so many moving parts to her story, and to try and squash if all down to ‘the media ruined her and Bobbys relationship’ is not only incorrect, it does everyone involved a huge disservice!! Stop with the nonsense…please!!

Whitney was/is the best, but one woman can sing almost EXACTLY the same........glennis grace..close your eyes, she is whitney
@SnoopCatts4 жыл бұрын
@@19rode75 you're completely 100% wrong! As Whitney Houston set herself, she never sings the song the same way twice... On purpose! And glennis Grace does everything she can sound like Whitney Houston on a recording...! The Brilliance of Whitney Houston was her live performances and her mellifluous use of melisma to convey emotion via lyric or Melody. Glennis Grace does not have that whatsoever
@19rode754 жыл бұрын
@@SnoopCatts I respect your views, but I'm not 100 percent wrong at all, over challenged this theory, by playing both whitney and glennis songs, and asked people which is which, and a lot of the time got it wrong. Although I will admit, there are parts of Whitney's voice that cannot be replicated...which is why I said ALMOST exactly the same. Dont forget glennis is not a native English speaking person, but still gets (for me and many others at least) so close to sounding like Whitney, so she deserves credit for that surely
@SnoopCatts4 жыл бұрын
@@19rode75 you said almost, and then you put exactly in caps... It's either almost, or it's exactly. But it can't be both. And even if it were... She doesn't sound even almost like Whitney Houston when singing songs...! She sounds like a recording, and she doesn't even have the same vocal control as Whitney did of her voice... And therefore it does not achieve what Whitney Houston could get you vocally at any point in her career. And as far as people listening and confusing her with Whitney's voice, many people ability to listen is shit. people listen to some of the worst singers on the internet and say they sound amazing...🤷🏾♂️ What I'm saying are FACTS, it's not up for debate.
@19rode754 жыл бұрын
@@SnoopCatts Snoop Catt basically I was trying to say for all the grammar police out there, is she sounds almost exactly the same, (which means very close, to, but not including the real thing) I tested this and lots of people weren't sure who was who at points through the songs, that's fact. I get what you're saying, all the people that think glennis sounds like whitney are shit? Or putting it another way, all the people that you disagree with are "shit" people are allowed to have their own opinions, even if it goes against your professional opinion, you are a professional I presume?

I love Whitney performances when she’s sick because it shows why she’s the best vocalist ever. When her voice was not at 100% she used her God given skills and technique to get through the notes, and still sound extraordinary. Other singers lower keys or skip notes but not Whitney.
@MakeAdifference-fi5jr Жыл бұрын
Indeed, absolutely correct 🙌

Whitney regularly lowered the keys to her songs even in her younger years. The songs were lowered here too lol. There's nothing wrong with lowering the key, by the way.

I came here after reading a 2016 article that referenced this performance. The writer pointed out how seamlessly Whitney Houston directs the musicians in this medley. The true beauty is that most wouldn't notice, but that's the MAGIC of Whitney Houston. Her voice was so beautiful and overwhelming that we didn't see the true depths of her talent. She was so much more than "The Voice" she knew her craft inside and out and could weave beauty into any song with her unique arrangements. It was this God given instinctual talent and knowledge that allowed her voice to soar. 00:17 She gives a head nod for the band to start. 00:25 She turns to face the band to alert for transition 1:45 She drops her arms to let the band know to proceed to next song 2:03 She leads the band into the transition of "How Will I Know" 4:56 She gently gestures with her left hand to let the band know to quiet down. I could go on and on. Whitney should get the same respect that Mariah Carey or Prince get for their talents. No, she didn't write her songs or play any instruments, but what she was able to do was no less powerful. She wasn't just a singer.

She's brilliant. Even when she knew she couldn't sing some songs as well as before, it still sounded great. She just rearranged it to emphasize notes that she was still able to hit quite well. Even out of her prime, the women sounded solid and far superior to most singers in their prime.
