@Marie J.Richard I guess they had to go cold turkey and wean themselves off each other. Living together didn't help. Easiest way to get over someone is to get with someone else. Whitney was able to do that but blocked robyn from doing so, leaving her in an emotional limbo.

I completely understand her now because when I was younger I was so disappointed in her because she was someone I looked up to as a young girl. @Ms k Exactly and that is very sad to say but that's how it was years ago if you were a lesbian, gay, or bisexual you had to keep it on the low. As it was strongly advised from her parents, Clive Davis, her management team, publicist etc. I truly believe that Whitney felt like Robyn was her soul mate, they loved each other unconditionally. In the documentary WHITNEY CAN I BE ME (probably the best honest portrayal of her life in my opinion) Bobby Brown was even quoted saying when Whitney died after her funeral, that if Robyn would have been truly accepted in Whitney's life he strongly believed she would still be alive today. Also Robyn leaving broke Whitney's heart but Robyn hated Bobby and vice versa they were always fighting for her attention, affection Whitney was always playing the referee, Robyn had enough and told Whitney to choose and the rest is history.

@@DaBratlife True but i think whitney could have avoided alot of the chaos between Robyn and Bobby if she had just put up some boundaries. Robyn wasnt tryna be the third wheel but Whitney was making her that, causing Bobby to be all up in his feelings. She may have been like the sister she never had, most trusted employee, confidant and best friend but she was also her ex. Assuming Alicia and Bobby hooked up back in the day but was now Bobby's manager, I dont think Whitney would be comfortable having her around. Robyn left at the right time in my opinion cos Whitney and Bobby were spiralling out of control. If Whitney had swallowed her pride and rejected her resignation, I believe Robyn woulda stayed.

Robyn was also the buffer between Whitney and everyone else including her greedy father and his lawyer, so when she left it was open season, just so sad. She protected Whitney as much as she possibly could. I believe Robyn is probably the only person she truly felt safe with.

As far as Whit, she did show a lot of mixed signals.....Robyn was "true to the game".....she tore her room up after finding out that Whitney slept with Jermaine, and thought she could keep it from Robyn. Whitney said one thing, regarding their "physical'....but then contradicted it and ripped pages out the bible she gave her....after finding out that someone else had Robyn's attention for just a few hours. Robyn allowed Whitney to have too much control in that affair from day one.....and it led to some problems. Robyn should have put her foot down about Whitney's control tactics long ago. Robyn should have put herself first while still being present for Whitney on the "work & business" end of it! Robyn failed herself more than Whitney failed her. Robyn needed to recognize her own beauty worth & talents. Whitney definitely unintentionally took it all for granted.....yes, she took Robyn for granted. Robyn persevered for that love....for years, and Whitney forgot all about the solid foundation. Robyn was suppose to leave way before yr 2000 but with everything she saw her friend, her love going through in her marriage, her career, her family, and the drugs......to Robyn, it became more of a protective role, trying to help Whitney stay focused & keep it together....for her child & her career. It wasn't so much about hopes for a continued affair anymore at that point. Whitney & Bobby were too wrapped up in each other(all the wrong reasons) for that. But we get it Robby, we too, understand true love, loyalty, dedication, & genuine care for someone. And it's not wrong....but there can be consequences....and unfortunately for Robby, she met the consequences of that. But thank God it wasn't too late for Robby.....God spared her mind & her heart, and put someone in her life that was suitable for her. Robyn deserves that 100%👌🏽

And FINALLY she got enough strength and SENSE to leave that toxic situation because with Bobby, da Houston's and da DRUGS.... She was being pushed out or could have been hurt by them!!! I totally agree the whole Bobby/Whitney/Robyn love triangle was very dysfunctional, but it was as much a reflection of the times in which it was happening as it was the character and choices of the individuals in question. We must remember that things were VERY different in the 80s and 90s as it relates to gay and bisexual people in the public eye. Whitney knew this all too well. She would also have been well aware that her family would not have accepted her having an openly gay relationship with Robyn, and probably her record label would have taken issue with it too. So regardless of how Whitney felt about Robyn, she knew the world was very much against her being "involved" in that sense and I honestly think that was just one more battle she didn't have it in her to fight. Look at the amount controversy and negativity in the press her marriage to Bobby Brown got in the first 5 years alone, then imagine what it would have been like if she and Robyn had come out as a couple.... It's easy for us to look back from the social climate of today where we have celebs even pretending to be gay, bi, trans, non-binary just to stay relevent, and conclude Whitney "wanted to have her cake and eat it" but I don't think thats fair. It was different times, different social norms and different pressures, but magnified a thousand times for a world famous super-star like Whitney. None of us live under that kind of pressure 24/7 so who are we to judge?

Whitney's story reminds me a lot of Britney Spears. They both was controlled by their handlers and wasn't allow to make their own decisions or do something for them. And both of their families heavily depended on them financially. In regard to your topic, I 100% agree with you. Whitney was wrong for how she treated Robyn. I agree totally 100 %!! Reading Robyn's book was an eye opener. Robyn stayed too long in that situation. She never really had any serious romantic relationships while working for Whitney because Whitney wasn't having it!! Robin & Whitneys' story always hits home for me because everything about them reminds me of a situation I've been dealing with for YEARS on my end. We never DEFINED what was in my situation, she always had multiple men but always came back to me. I'm a Gemini so I get how strong the love was between Robby and Whitty. Whitney and Robyn's relationship was too deep, it was more than sex (difficult to explain). Robyn was someone that she could count on, someone who really care about her and always try to keep her on the ground. Whitney couldn't find these kind of person in her family and neither in Bobby, She knew that and that's why she didn't want to let her go. No, I think Whitney LOVED and PROMISED Robyn to stay by her side whatever that meant. Whitney was steadfast and grounded in her beliefs in Jesus and what the bible says about same sex relations. I think if the bible didn't condemn homosexuality, she would have stayed with Robyn 100%. Also her family is still very much so homophobic and that most likely ate at Whitney and made her hate herself deeply. Whitney just wanted to sing and be loved, Robyn was the closest she got to love, then she put on an act for the world with Bobby.
