Just amazes me that this huge, powerful voice came out of such a small framed person. Whitney's voice still remains the standard by which EVERY singer tries to reach. Her vocal inflections, interpretation, diction, power, control, vibrato, timbre & the cherry on top was her tone...Rich, velvety, smooth, honey-like tone that blanketed her voice from top to bottom.✅

There are great singers of our time. And everybody has their preferences of voices. But I must say, that Whitney was just SPECIAL. Her tone all by itself, was a gift. It's undeniable. If you couldn't see her and you just heard her singing, it would stop you right in your tracks. Then it's her genius of delivery, which to me is...UNMATCHED. The resonance, the lyrical phrasing, the timing, her ability to give a song EXACTLY what it needed, and never too much or not enough. Whitney just had THE MOST beautifully constructed instrument of all. And she mastered HOW to use it! 💝

@@THEE.apples Mariah is great inspiration for all these horrible young singers with atrophic voices. Her whispers, whistles, and other squeezed sounds excite them. I’m from Newark and this song went over huge here when George Benson released the original. This is a Newark song. @@samanthabutler766 It is called back phrasing, it is a black church thing. You won't understand it if you did not grow up in that culture. It creates space an anticipation for what is to come, allows the singer to create a mood for their performance and actually are the performance. They are not constricted by an arrangement as they create their own arrangement on the spot!..Every notable great black musician used it before her..It is the same thing as the call and response thing. White folk do not understand it. Not your fault Whitney was known for this as you never get one arrangement of any of her song ever. A new interpretation every time she steps behind that mic! Same reason I can not stand singers that sing their songs every time like the record and fail! anyways. I would rather stay home and pop in their CD..I WOULD NEVER PAY FOR A CONCERT FOR A SINGER THAT HAS ZERO FLEXIBILITY!

The band was a damned mess… she had to guide them
@odumosuolusegun27813 жыл бұрын
Not true. For a very sponteanous flexible singer, she has to direct them. This is not her own band, anyone that wants to play behind Whitney must be swift fast and flexible and understand the complexities of her delivery. Even her own band say she directs them too. This is normal actually. She is more subtle with it with her own band because they know her far more..
