That makes three of us! Whitney had a much stronger voice. Her tone's much richer/fuller and warmer. When Glennis sings the high notes and when she belts, she sounds rather sharp. *Nobody will ever be the new Whitney Houston.* Even if there's someone with the exact same voice, she still ain't (the new) Whitney. *Whitney Elizabeth Houston was much more than a voice and great performer.* Whitney poured from her personal emotion and influences and makes you feel what's in her heart & soul.

Whitney Houston in her prime.. behind a live microphone with a piano. A lot of people can sing very well. And a lot of people can brilliantly cover a song and make you feel something. And a lot of people can get a number one hit and win a Grammy. But when Whitney puts down her live vocals on any song, there's not a dead or living soul that could've or could come anywhere close to this talent. Whitney Houston is the greatest singer that ever lived.

@@markdrinkwater1508 I hate to break it to you, but you may need to go get your ears tested.. you're on your own on this one LOL. Or, you haven't a musical ear so shouldn't be involved in this discussion. Aretha knew Whitney was much better than she was. As quoted by Aretha "Whitney Houston was one the greatest singer to ever step before a microphone". She said "one" as Aretha was quite arrogant and liked to think herself as the greatest, but she knew she wasn't. She was jealous of Cissy's daughter, Whitney. So you're ill-description of Whitney above^ is completely void. No one could hit a note the way Whitney did. There's a difference between hitting the highest note on record and hitting a note like Whitney did. Everyone wanted a chest, mixed and head voice like Whitney. There's not a lot of singers who score full marks across their vocal, and she did. And I pity you, if you're unable to understand this.

At her very best, La Whitney married pop and gospel with the control, resonance and phrasing of an operatic singer. She had exquisite control over her vast range in every pocket of her voice. She never needed to over sing because her voice was limitless at its very best. Performances like this are the reason that I don't debate about who the "greatest" is. There have been many great singers, but Whitney sang at the highest level of greatness and virtuosity.

@ninamo7969 3 жыл бұрын
@@lindseycarribean5113 The list of violations is long. Whitney's demise started the day she was sexually abused as a very young child and all the other violations against her that never ended! *Whitney had many very painful childhood memories. These are just a few of them.* - She was bullied verbally and physically and socially excluded by black and white kids a lot between the age 6 and 18. She was often chased after by groups of kids who threatened her to beat her up. Kids pulling her hair, breaking her glasses and other stuff happened frequently. For the darker skinned kids she didn't look black enough (her skin was lighter than theirs, hair was longer and not afro enough to them, thinner lips....). To the white kids, Whitney looked too black. Cissy dressed Whitney with beautiful more expensive looking clothes and Whitney was also bullied for that. As a teenager she took an old jeans and t shirt with her to wear at school to prevent being bullied. - Whitney's paternal grand father treated her and her brothers badly because of their skin color. Whitney's father has a white looking sun from his first marriage. When Whitney was just a toddler, her grandfather gave ice cream to his White looking grandchild and none to Whitney and brothers Michael & Gary. He also said he didn't love them as much. - Whitney's parents lived in a dangerous neighborhood plagued by drugs and gang wars. As a very young child Whitney and her family often had to lie down on the floor to prevent bullets killing them in their own home. Her parents moved out of that neighborhood as soon as they could. - The divorce of her parents was also painful and difficult to process as young child. As an adult the mental and physical violations never ended. - racism. - colorism. - betrayal by people (incl. friends and even family) Whitney thought she could trust. - relentlessly hunted and haunted by the press. - mental and physical abused by Bobby Brown. - At least 4 miscarriages. the first on set of The Bodyguard. Before Whitney had the chance talking about it herself, someone had told the press. - a victim of several stalkers that threatened to kill her/harm her loved ones. - .... Whitney had many very painful childhood and adult trauma's that pushed her towards numbing substances.😭 People kept violating her till the day she died and many vile scum are still doing it!😡😞 Though Whitney had everything when it comes to talent and beauty, her personal life was a far cry from that. 😭 *Whitney's addictions were the result of psychological traumas that started very early in her childhood and the immense* *pain she carried never ended!* On the surface it seems like Whitney had it all, but as person she didn't. Whitney fought a long and very hard fight against her demons that she couldn't win! *Substance abuse is an illness in Whitney's case and also millions of people suffering mental issues.*

@@ninamo7969 All that is very sad and racism is without a doubt the biggest wound of america who hasn’t been heal yet. That colorism is just bs. To god, lighter, darker we are all beautiful. This stupid thing creates insecurity. This is the leftovers of slavery. In an interview, she said that she had a good childhood. Her father seemed to be protective and her mother very caring. She trained her before getting into this industry. That said, I read that her mother used to take drugs when she was a back singer, probably even when she was pregnant of whitney. There’s this rumor that she was molested by a family member ? The drug problem might be in her genes before she ever came to earth. She also had legal issues with her father who asked millions of $$$$$$$$$. But you know what ? I have pain from kristina. Poor child.

Whitney was much more than a pop singer. Whitney grew up with Gospel music and first sang in church. That influenced her voice and singing a lot. 12-year old Whitney Houston singing in church kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnKcaH5sdt2mh6c&list=PLZYslmmRsoxfkXqkF-KeBJt1gtBdEuxg5&index=6 Before her ARISTA record deal Whitney did backing vocals for artists like Cissy Houston, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Lou Rawls and other Gospel/Soul/R&B artists. From her 3rd album to the last, Whitney recorded mainly R&B, Soul, Gospel, Hip Hop, Urban, Dance, Rock, a little reggae and funk,...` LIVE, Whitney always sang her songs more soulful and sang Gospel, R&B and many other styles during concerts and other live performances. I know you did not refer to Whitney Houston as a pop singer!? You can NOT have a voice like that and think its derived from pop. She was a gospel singer first and foremost. She settled her voice to pop when she became famous because her label wanted her to do pop. That's why her voice is so powerful in her songs, the way she kills gospel like her famous gospel mother, pop would have never been hard for her to sing.
@JB-lv1ne
@JB-lv1ne 5 жыл бұрын
I think this post, in it's self is both the problem and reason Whitney is so successful. Yes she can do every genre of music, so she can't really be labeled, as she said "if you can sing, you can sing any genre of music!". Just to clarify, Gospel and R&B singers don't normally sing with clarity or are they know for their diction, Pop singers to some degree sing with clarity as they appeal to the masses. Whitney isn't giving us neither Pop or R&B, she is in full classic Broadway mode meant to reach the back if the theatre!
