If you didn't know before you know now why Lara Fabian is called the Queen of resonance. This was a low-quality non-digitized video and her voice still was pitch-perfect and outstanding. Also, the reverb on Whitney's mic was very strong whereas the sound quality was almost muted on the old video of Laura. Don't get me wrong they both are very great singers but Laura in most circles is considered one of the best female singers ever. She's very young in this video if you look at videos of when she is older you'll see why she has been the inspiration for a lot of elite level singers from across the world.

You people need to stop arguing. No one would sing this song better than Whitney, but equally I don't think someone could sing Je t'aime, Je suis malade, Adagio better than Lara. This is a young Lara also, from the 90's. There are couple of other videos of her singing this when she is a bit older and she sings it with much more emotion, and the quality of the videos are much better. Lara Fabian is almost technically perfect every time she sings, that's why her voice, after 30 years of singing is still amazing. Whitney was and will always be a legend, but she was not perfect. Lara is a bit more classical, more a versatile crossover with a different musical background but she has the right to sing this because of her comparable technique and resonans. How annoying it is the fact that most people ONLY care about the fucking resonance, technique and neutral larynx, Music and singing is not these things. Singing is the passion, the emotions and the beauty of the voice. For you, if one person has full resonance , he or she is singing perfectly and outperforms the other singers automatically even if the sound is worse than the person who does not have resonance. The best singer is the singer who has the talent from God and who exercises and practices his or her voice. Whitney has a great sense of rhythmic phrasing, even without any rhythm, she could just sing each and every line of that phrase accurately, right tempo without wavering in pitch. Lara is tops! Much better interpretation. Also, the video production quality used to compare Lara to Winy is totally unbalanced. It is unfair to try and make an assessment when a poor quality video of Lara was deliberately used. Winy Whitney drowns in Reverb and don't know where she is. I get motion sickness due to all the ups and downs in a single word. Winy Whitney leaves me cold. She's all over the place and irritates the hell out of me! houston will have a ring in his voice, not lara fabian. houston's voice is richer ..he will have velvet in his tone ..and houston's head voice is impressive .. lara is weaker .. on the other hand the high notes of lara are stronger more massive here .. .fabian does more sustained support ..
