Whitney, I love your candidness. Thanks for this interview. Very similar to your experience, I had an awful time trying to breastfeed with my first and ended up trying to exclusively pump for months but couldn’t produce enough, and it made me feel like a crazy person. This year I had my second baby and decided to advocate for what I felt would help me be the best mom I could be for my two boys. With the support of my OB (who candidly told me the whole “breast is best” thing is so overblown) I decided not to try and breastfeed with my second and went on antidepressants immediately postpartum. It was the BEST DECISION I could have made. This second time around has been a joy and is a night and day difference compared to my experience those first few months trying to feed my first. The point is fed is best. It truly doesn’t matter what you do as long as your baby is fed.

Doctors recommend instant formula for first two months to reduce risk of bacteria. What is the ByHeart response to this and does the company endorse starting newborns on their product right away?

one problem with health care - obgyn doesn't talk much about feeding because they're not pediatricians... obgyns should be preparing you for feeding your entire pregnancy.

Fed is best! The "breast is best" is great if it works out, but formula is a wonderful option too. It really isn't talked about enough.
