I'm pretty sure 90% of UFC fighters take or have taken some juice and I understand it can be really hard to catch AND legally pursue (hell, I think Yoel took around 20 USADA tests in a single year). But man, it's so infuriating how it somehow becomes acceptable with fighters like Romero or Costa, both crazy cheaters but for whatever reason get a free pass every time.

Whittaker at 14:00 is some of the most insane, beautiful autopilot fighting I've ever seen. The man looks absolutely spent, on his last legs fighting a walking nightmare like The Soldier of God. But that elbow, sprawl, elbow combination he throws as he, fuelled by nothing but trained in instinct, walks down fucking Yoel Romero right after taking a pissball is just awesome. Really amazing.

Thanks for posting this man. I have no idea why this fight isnt talked about more. I personally think Bobby Knucles got 1,2, and 4. But for round 4 i can see an argument for total vs damage. Romero only got a few hits, but they ALL rocked Robert pretty badly. Meanwhile Rob got more quantity, a couple hurt Romero, but not nearly as bad as he was hurt. Either way, extremely good fight. Definition of MMA.

Effective Striking is considered “Legal blows that have immediate or cumulative impact with the potential to contribute towards the end of the match with the IMMEDIATE weighing in more heavily than the cumulative impact." According to the MMA judging criteria, immediate damage far outweighs cumulative damage. If you did more immediate damage, you won the round. All other criteria is secondary to this. So if Romero threw less strikes, but did significantly more damage, he won the round. After all, "MMA is an offensive based sport. No scoring is given for defensive maneuvers."

Romero won 4,5 convincingly 5 was a 10-8 and id give the third on damage inflicted. Simple matter is yoel missed weight and the ufc would never want the title becoming vacant if a decision was close , if yoel makes weight he wins that decision. Robert is a G but yoel won that fight

I know it happening at the end of the round gives an idea that he should get it, but Rob was blasting him the entire round outside of that. That can't be discounted and Rob wasn't even dropped there.

Honestly watching it back Romero looked like he won. Whittaker had some great moments but he got rocked/ dropped 3-4 times. If it was Pride scoring (judging the fight as whole once its over) Romero would have won.
