I remember I kept asking myself the question ‘Who am I?’. I spent about 4 days thinking about it none stop. It was actually this, which triggered my Awakening. I will never ever forget the moment it happened. I had spent more or less a whole day peeling away the different layers of who I wasn’t. eg name, titles, labels, ideas etc until I was left with what I was. The only way I can describe it was a pure awareness of just ‘being’. The instant I became this awareness, everything changed for me and I Awakened. When I opened my eyes, everything was different. My reality hadn’t changed at all and yet everything I experienced was different. My journey since has been the most amazing, profound, beautiful, mind blowing journey. Here’s a cuddle for all my beautiful brothers and sisters 🤗 💕

Genuine question - isn’t ‘just being’ a little boring? I’ve never liked the idea of not having an identity and becoming one with everything else. It actually frightens me. Am I seeing it the wrong way? Can you explain it further? Thank you 🙏

@@posiefluff7942 The richness you find in that place is beyond anything that you can experience outside with your senses. In a way it is like you discover your own movie's producer inside. You can witness universes born and collapsed, you literally can look inside the whole creation and discover whatever aspect presents itself. That is why you can spend days without making a move because it is so captivating and unique. Netflix is nothing in comparison.

That's pretty awesome. When I was a child, I woke up in the middle of the night and got up to go to the bathroom, and heard a clear voice of someone saying my name. I searched everywhere, but there was nobody around. It scared me enough that I stayed up the rest of the night. Maybe it was trying to scare me away from thinking I was that body with that name 😄

You are not your clothes, you are not your furniture, you are not your job, what you have done or what you think. You are the observer within that sees all of this but that doesn't make it you. Being aware of what you are not, helps to make you aware of what you are. I am a spiritual being having a physical experience. Recently after watching another Chene video about a near death experience, Ingrid Honkala, opened my mind to the next life, or perhaps the real life. This isn't it!! I no longer worry about death or what is going to happen. Never in my life has something like this happened to me!! Being aware of being aware.

If I may The "I" is the illusion, the character but the "am" is God/soul/ Âme. Soul = Âme in French. The "I" is a belief system and "am" is the true self. Imagine one day you have an accident and you lose your memory. There won't be the "I" anymore, no name, no age, no past. But the "am" will always be there, the truth. Greetings from France. @@idaloup6721 yes that’s why self inquiry on the sense of I-ness is so powerful. By observing this sense of I the recognition is made that I cannot be that which is observed (aka form/phenomenal happenings). When you listen to many teachers who speak the same thing as this, you hear the message in many different ways. And in different words and with different stories. Then it begins to make more sense. The "I" is awareness. It's consciousness. It's the still point. It's the center. A great practice is meditation on the breath.

The I, I found myself to be, which is all of us together: One warm afternoon in 1996 I took a short nap. I awoke within it to find myself standing in the presence of a huge sun or sphere of light, quickly understanding that this sun was pure conscious awareness. Although its surface was only swirling light and did not have a face, it seemed as if it was smiling at me and had nothing but love for me. I felt its thoughts as one with my own and felt it peering deeply into my own awareness, knowing everything about me all at once. Standing in its presence I was overcome by a deep sense of awe and at the same time I was surprised to find myself so fully conscious in this empty, but light-filled void. There was nothing in existence for me but myself and this bright bluish-white sun smiling its awareness at me. It was unlike any place on earth, and yet as real as waking reality. In fact, it was more real; I was super-conscious. Suddenly I came to a profound awareness that this sun was God! I was so overwhelmed and surprised that God was real that I mentally gasped and then yelled out, "You're Real!" I had always had a deep mistrust of religion. Years before this experience, I had decided for many seemingly valid reasons that religion and God were only a product of the human mind, yet there I was standing in the presence of what I knew without a doubt was God. What I had previously thought to be the truth about the universe was shattered and I stood there stunned, having had my world turned around so quickly. I was happy because I had always hoped that God was real and that there was a future beyond the physical. As I stood in its presence, I perceived myself to be nothing but pure awareness and without a body. This sun of awareness fully merged with me, seeing everything inside of me. It saw everything I had ever done (and failed to do) both good and bad, and yet I did not sense or feel this Being was judging me or my past. There was no serial or motion-picture-like review of my life, just a sudden and full knowing about all things I have ever done, thought and experienced. Because this sun of awareness/God was peering so fully and deeply into me, I felt totally naked, more naked than if I were standing without clothes in front of a million people. This Being seemed to be the consciousness of everyone I had ever known plus that of millions of others. It seemed to be everyone, but incredible as it might seem, most of all it seemed to be me. Even though I had no awareness of having a boy, this feeling of nakedness was more than I could stand. Before I had time to think about what I was doing, I began moving away from this Being as fast as I could. It wasn t that I was afraid, nor that I wanted to get away from this wonderful sun of light, it was more like an automatic response to feeling more naked than I thought naked could be. As I was traveling away from this Being I found myself bursting through some kind of barrier into a blackness that was filled with wonderful stars; space. As I continued moving forward at a tremendous speed through the star fields, I soon found myself slowing down as if I was up against another barrier or membrane. It seemed to stretch slightly and then I burst through it into another blackness of star-filled space. I continued to speed away faster and faster, but regardless of how much physical distance I traveled, I was never any farther away from the sun of awareness at all. I quickly traveled through several star-filled spaces, at least six of them beyond the great sphere of light, each separated from one another by barriers that I was easily penetrating. As I passed through each layer, my speed increased each time, but its consciousness was still with me. It was still deeply within my own consciousness. All of a sudden, I fell through the top of my bedroom ceiling, hit my body with a jolt and immediately woke up. The jolt was so strong that my bed physically bounced as my body jerked awake in response to the sudden stop. I opened my eyes and immediately spoke in a low and powerful voice, "I am that great I am." I said this almost involuntarily; the words spilled out of my mouth without even thinking about what or why I was saying it. I also knew what this meant: that I was the very consciousness that I was trying to get away from! As much as I tried to get away from that Sun of Awareness, I could never get one fraction of an inch farther away from it, no matter how far or fast I traveled. Even after waking up, it was still with me. To this day, I still feel and know its presence. I believe that this Sun/Intelligence/God wasn't a single Being, but is the center of all beings, that it is me, you and perhaps all conscious beings. From this experience I think that somewhere at the center of each of us is a spark of this same light, and without it we would not have consciousness, and perhaps without us it would not exist either. As I was flying away from this being, I had the impression that I was traveling through several layers within a sphere, but I was bursting through layers like the layers of an onion but between each layer was star-filled space. I can't really tell you if I was traveling from the inside out, or the outside in, but as I traveled through them I had an impression that the farther I got from the sphere of light, the smaller I got and the more divided I became. As I was returning I felt like I was not only traveling through spheres within spheres, but also as if I were traveling from the top of a pyramid down, the peak an all seeing eye of omni-present consciousness, the blocks below all of the individuals which make the whole. While trying to move away I could both see and feel myself splitting into more and more diverse copies of myself, each branching off into many other branches of selves which also split into their own branches, dividing and dividing into ever larger numbers. Because of this experience, I came to see everyone around me as myself. At the same time, I also see this as equally true from everyone else's perspective, that I am them too. They too can look around and only see other parts of themselves, other selves experiencing life from another point of view, separated by their physical bodies and world, by their individual minds and wills, but in reality they are one at their core. These feelings and thoughts were so strong within me that I had trouble referring to other people at work as anything other than "I". I had a tendency to think about others as just another part of myself. Just as I think about my hands as being a part of me, I would sometimes refer to others as "I" instead of the name of the person. For example, instead of saying, "He had finished working on that project" it came out as "I had finished working on that project." I had to re-learn how to refer to others as separate from myself. After four years, I still think of others as myself, but now I can stop from verbalizing it. If I had the chance to do it over again and stand in the presence of this sun-intelligence-God, I wouldn't run away from it no matter how startling it is to be seen to such depth. I now hope that I would stand in its presence no matter how naked I felt. I don't believe that my motive for running was because I couldn't stand to face the light, or that I felt like a bad person, but because I was so unaccustomed to being seen so fully, so suddenly, so clearly and to such depth. Unfortunately my flight away from it took place before I could think of what I was doing and why. The words I spoke after the experience, "I am that great I am" meant that, although I am individual here, I am also a part of every other consciousness at the great central point of consciousness; God. I am now secure in the knowledge that this presence of consciousness has always been with me, and that I have never been alone and never will be alone. I now know that this presence is closer to me than anything else in the universe. I had been so accustomed to it that I didn t know it was there, much like becoming used to a smell in a room, once you are there with it long enough, it begins to fade into the background. Like silence, it is always there, maybe in the background, behind and between the sounds, but always there. Like a quiet pure awareness, completely silent but ever present. To find it within listen to the silence and then try to find what is behind it, it's there as strong as your own silent awareness forever smiling at you. When this happened I had been affected by severe sleep apnea where I could just stop breathing for minutes, as reported to me by my wife who kept waking me so I would breath again. Due to this, is possible I stopped breathing for some period of time, but since I was sleeping, I have no way to know whether this happened that day as I was alone in bed when this happened.

Yes. My current take is that we’ve incarnated to experience life in an awakened state. We could stay in a yurt in the woods and meditate. Or we can talk to other people about the depth of life available when waking up. Everything is ok. But I have a feeling that we’d feel like we missed a trick if we didn’t participate as fully as possible in life itself. Still working on this; integrating, instead of suppressing, the ego...

@@AlexCrowe-the-pianist - I like how you articulated that. It makes sense because whatever you suppress, is just going to show up at another time and sometimes not in a pleasant way at all. I think that it isn’t suppression that we are discussing but the slow “letting go” of everything that one thinks/believes they are, only because they keep engaging with the “outside” (which actually doesn’t exist and is just a projection of everything that you grew up believing that you are). It’s the state of nothingness that you aim at reaching. Nothingness. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

For me it doesn't leave much space to universal love, which is the most healing energy, and the creativity, which is the very nature of humankind. So I believe understanding the real self is just the beginning of the process. Many thanks again.

I woke up one day September 15 2021 and I couldn't understand who I was, where I was and what is going on I looked at the mirror and didn't see myself I felt like (still feel) like I'm nothing and yet everything. In my heart there is no fear, anger or hate just unconditional LOVE and PEACE and that's when I realized I'm spiritually awakened. It's been two months now since I've awoken sometimes I feel like I'm about to go mental when the earth (meterialistic earth) dissapiers from my eyes. I remind myself things are the way they're suppose to be life is a test and this is meant to teach you something. Time is fluid here. There's no tomorrow, yesterday just eternal now. It's hard sometimes, because I feel like an outcast I watch people live life as if I'm watching a movie as if I could wake them up from this dream of life. I GIVE THANKS TO THE DEVINE ONE. For killing who I thought was I (the ego) and showing me the real I.

It’s so easy for me to get dragged back into and distracted by the dualistic world dramas but now I understand that this presence is always there. It is impossible to be separate from it. We need the dualistic concepts and language to survive and partake in this society but I make sure to take time to just “be” and ground myself back into my true nature every morning and night. Or as Michael Singer does, every time he gets into his car, he sits and for a minute he just mediates on the fact that we are on a rock whizzing through an infinite universe 🤪

@@Traderhood the recognition of truth can only emanate from that which is already true. That’s how we know truth to be true in the first place because it resonates from a place within “us” that is already true. The dualistic nature of the form of language is impossible to get around so it is difficult to assume from what state one is speaking. The recognition of self in all recognizes that the separate “I” never really existed to begin with. “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.” -ACIM

I call that Traveller's Dissociation. When I come back home from another culture, I always feel like a guest observing a small, small world. "Is this really my life? It is not the " I" which is removed, but the illusions of I..being the creations, not the creator. "I am NOT that" has to be realized on the path to " That I am". You have to doscover what you are not first.

Ramana was asked this same question, and answered: "There are no others". To the intellect, which can only conceptualize about this teaching, it may appear dry or devoid of love and bhakti, when in fact it's the complete opposite.

Just found this channel and it is enlightening. It seems the message here is being able to separate the Ego from Consciousness. Awakening started during a very stressful, emotionally damaging and physically threatening experience that ended by me letting go of everything that was near and dear to me because suddenly I could see the toxicity emanating from *everything* and the commitment I had to make to maintain them was literally destroying the bond between this body & this Consciousness. Am 'I' there yet? No, but well on the journey. The journey started well over 30 years ago and what Godman said is true, Don't go looking for a teacher, as you are ready they show up at your door. For me it is in books and videos like this one. No one has all the answers, but everyone has one small answer...one small piece of the puzzle that when you start putting them all together, a greater image of who you really are starts to form. For me in this video that snippet was that anything that depends on something else to exist isnt real. I have been able to isolate five parts of my being: The 'physical' body which is created by the conscious mind that the Conscious mind uses to navigate this existence...so it is not real, it de-materializes at its death. The Ego, which is a fear based defensive mechanism whose purpose is to protect the 'vehicle' (body) during this experience; it doesnt do a very good job, in fact it overpowers the next part which is the true protector. And that is Intuition, which I have only started to trust within the last year and it has made a world of difference in the quality of life and the quality of people I allow in my life. The more I trust and follow the guidance of Intuition, the less 'vocal' the Ego has become. It appears the Ego trusts the Intuition's guidance also...Who'd would have thought that would be the case. The fourth part is the Subconscious mind where all the programming is stored and run that controls up to 90% of our experience and reactions to that experience by the Ego. Change the subconscious programs dictating your actions and you change your life experiences without even thinking about it. The fifth part is the Conscious mind, the 'Observer' (behind the scenes) for whom this whole theatrical experience is performed by...and for. This video helped me to solidify the realization that *everything* is an illusion, that nothing I experience is real; it is all created by and dependent upon the Conscious mind for its existence...And it all can be changed at will. I just have to want it strong enough in my heart and my mind that I see it is already so and my Conscious mind will make it happen. Anyway, that's my two cents, for what it is worth.

You state that Ramana preferred the word SELF. Please: let us know what the TAMIL word is that he used for Self. That would be most appreciated. Was it NAAN? In Tamil that means "Me." He is said to have incessantly inquire into (the process is called Vichaara) Naan Yaar, which means "Who am I." Yes, Naan is a kind of bread by the way..😅

But this idea....that I am not me, that is truly terrifying. When I die, I what, disintegrate into everything? To me, that is another definition of nothing. If I am everything, then I am nothing.
