They simply reject the changes introduced by Paul VI as regards to the minor orders, new mass and some elements of the council. I'm not here to defend their position on Vatican II, but it is certain as Cardinal Castrillon has stated, they are Catholics.

Excommunication is only valid for falling into heresy, apostasy(others) or creating new rules that are different from the truth; all they have done is maintain the teaching, the liturgy and the priesthood as they had been before changing everything in the council, and in to such an extent I wonder who the apostates are if they are all those who swore a rule of religious life and a teaching really in pure faith so that later they changed everything and by following those new post-conciliar regulations they all fell into apostasy for suppressing what once they swore on the day of their vows, also today how many churches are not sold due to lack of faithful, how many convents and monasteries close due to lack of vocations, how many monasteries are converted into schools, bars and nightclubs, the church is increasingly divided church in Germany with some bishops devising plans to lower the faith further by giving more freedoms of greater secularization, this is just like the prophecy of Pope Benedict XVI "The church will become a small group but the valuable thing is that they are pure", and just as in Rome, our hierarch is not interested in the fact that his people are losing their faith, that many are leaving the church and adopting another ideology due to lack of training (catechism is another matter) the liturgical sacrilege that does not stop the loss of faith in the holy sacrament since everyone receives communion in the hand and anyone gives communion so that they give power to the priest with consecrated hands if everyone can touch the body of the lord, there are many problems that affect the church generated from the council to the present and the living proof of that there is no positive fruit after such an event that has marked a milestone in the history of the church, I just hope that I can see the resurrection of the church again as it was before and that we are only passing for a time of darkness.

The doctrinal issue would be cleared up and the conditions created for the SSPX to review the Council.This though would not be acceptable to the Jewish Left who have been putting pressure on the Vatican.To prevent political tension the Archbishop has to accept a Vatican Council II which says those who are saved are physically visible to him on earth.

Since the SSPX affirmed the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus in their General Chapter Statement (July 19,2012) the SSPX should have called a Press Conference to point out the CDF Prefect's doctrinal error. How can invincible ignorance be an exception to extra ecclesiam nulla salus and Ad Gentes 7 when these cases are invisible for us ?

Well, let's remember that another society, the Society of St. Pius V, came out of 9 priests breaking with the SSPX because Archbishop Lefebvre wanted its priests to use the 1962 Roman Missal when they celebrated its Masses and to recognize the legitimacy of the post-conciliar Popes. Both of them go against what the church teaches, though.

This version of the Council is a break with the past. The Archbishop himself recently said that those who interpret the Council as a break with the past, traditionalists and progressivists, are heretical.Archbishop Muller interpreted the Council to Edward Pentin as a break with the past.This was when he suggested that LG 16 (invincible ignorance) is an exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
