Thank you for shedding light on the continued racism that Tamil Malaysians experience. Might want to add to your video that a lot of Indians were brought to Malaysia through indentured slavery by the British and other colonisers.

0:31 7% is the total population of Indians in Malaysia, not Tamils. Tamils make up approximately 75% of the total Indian population in Malaysia, which is only 7%. The fact is Tamils make up only 5.25% of total Malaysian population.

Actually, the percentage of Tamils in Malaysia might be slightly higher as many Ceylonese Tamils like me are officially classified as 'Others' instead of 'Indians'

Tamils once ruled s e Asia,but sadly s e Asian countries are not giving recognition to Tamils,the malay language foundation was founded by a Tamil, munshi Abdullah, but some Malay politicians are trying to close Tamil and Chinese schools,the real agenda of the muslims is to force Islamic education on non muslims tru national schools

I might agree with you. Historically, it is possible to detect in the last two decades something never witnessed before in this Muslim but multicultural country, the emergence and growth of Islamism. Of course, the process, like all political and social changes, was not and will not be immediate, but gradual. However, as noted by your comment, this is a fact. In addition to the political aspect, political Islam is also accompanied by an ethnic factor, with an increasing position taken by the Malays in relation to other communities. This is not the place to discuss whether this is right or wrong, i.e. protecting the interests of the natives in relation to immigrants - but can we continue to talk about immigrants after many centuries after their arrival? However, it is undeniable that a process of this type in such a multicultural context, if not controlled and contained in time, can lead to social, ethnic, political and religious polarizations and tensions as well as, and this is the purpose of the video, nullify and mystify the legacy and the historical role of the different founding communities of contemporary Malaysian society.

@@TheGeekySimo I was wondering if you could do a video on Arwi. It is the name of the extended Arabic script used for writing Tamil, sometimes also called a language exclusively spoken by the Muslim Tamils but it isn't a distinct language, but it definitely is very old, so old that it is what the first Muslims of the Indian subcontinent wrote their language in, which is just Arabic influenced Tamil. I'm getting ahead of myself here. There isn't any English based content about Arwi on KZbin and the ones that are there on the internet simply sound like they were written with feeling rather than facts in mind
@TheGeekySimo Жыл бұрын
@@nsawatchlistbait289 yes, you are right. There is not too much material in English language about Arwi (as well as Arabi Malayalam). This is a real pity, as these languages are the only vestiges still present of the fourteen-century-old encounter between the Arab and Indian worlds. An encounter that brought with it a very different type of Islam from the Persian-Central Asian one, which over the centuries ended up being the dominant/mainstream one in India, penetrated from the northwestern borders of the Subcontinent. You might be interested in watching a documentary called 'Yaadhum' about Tamil Muslims, in which Arwi is also mentioned. @@thefive2509 The very first letter பூ itself means earth in Tamil, பூமி, is just an extended word. If one is not wrong, Poo / Boo are considered distinct sounds with different characters in Sanskrit, Poo probably does not mean earth in Sanskrit.

With due respect to the Indians, we the Malays used to call the indian "keling" because of the ancient history. This hasn't change until recently when the term is deemed deragotary by most of the Indians. It is by no means our intention to hurt their feelings, we are taught so by our parents and our parents' parents. It's in the vocabulary! But hey, if you don't like it, I won't say it in front of you but the words still used by the elders. Just remember, it's not meant to be and peace!

Yes, there were Indians present in the Malaysian peninsula prior to the British period. However, most of the Indians currently present are the descendants of those brought here during the British rule.

Whatever the system and whoever brought us here...our presence is here. In the 80s 90s we were 10% and reducing to 6 % at present. There are influx of new illegal immigrants and many claimed "warganegara" status hence we lost our significants by population parameter.
