I genuinely don't get all the fuss about "personality" stuff. This is a fucking gacha game, where all the characters are nothing more than products for sale, designed for different audiences. That's why you'll never get black playable characters - coz they won't sell good. Furina and Arlecchino are as "good' written charachers as Ayaka or Raiden, but have more screen time hence you won't even notice that. Goro Majima, Arthur Morgan, Abby Anderson - these are examples of a well-written charater with a rich personality, charaters in genshin are simply shallow shells. All of them

Great take. As a lore enjoyer, the inconsistency that genshin characters have sometimes makes me legitimately angry (especially the MC, who 90% of the time is just dumb). As well, some characters who may have had some potential to be well written to be considered as having a "personality," but they always found a way to simply destroy the concept.

You can still like how a character is written, chill. I find some genshin characters personalities' more enjoyable than others, it's not that deep. You could say the same about a bunch of things. "Oh this anime character? Well you can't like how they're written actually, because their design was made to sell merch!". Like yes it was, you can still like them though. It's not that deep. Also, the difference in writing IS actually big between some characters. Furina is definitely better written than Ayaka. We do spend more time with Furina so of course she is more fleshed out. But even when we hadn't spent as much time with her, the difference could still be seen. I find Ayaka to just have less interesting facets and her conflicts are also rather shallow. Does that mean other people can't like her? No, of course not. Many people do. Because everyone appreciates different personality aspects. Also saying just because we spent more time with someone we can't say that they're better written than someone we spent less time with is kinda weird. If you're reading a book and theres a character that is important and therefore has more scenes and is more fleshed out, you suddenly can't say they're better written than a secondary character we spend less time with in the book?? Just because we see that secondary character less? That's dumb, you definitely can, because it's obvious which character was more fleshed out. I do agree with you that many characters do just feel empty. Like Ga-ming, his only personality is basically being nice. Pretty boring stuff, barely any conflicts except family not liking his job (yet they still love him). And we actually spent more time with him than other characters (the big event with him) and yet I still consider him less well written than many characters that we have had for less. Honestly at some point I just started rambling. But basically its fine for people to enjoy some characters personalities and writing smh. Yes it's a gacha and made to sell. Characters still have personalities though (though again, I do agree that many are pretty empty sometimes), and it's okay for people to enjoy them. You find all of them empty shells? Okay, that's ur thing. I like many of them and so do other people. It's as easy as that. Your opinion is not a fact.

@@Insanebehaviordude I liked your comment for your correct take but felt criminal for doing it for your Gaming take. I only pull for characters who I like the design of. But who I play and who my favourite characters are are two different lists. Shenhe is one of my top favourite characters in the game, but she's one of my least favourite designs in the game.
