I feel like alireza and dubov are the only dark horse of today's chess world, you can never bet against them no matter the opponent, they might just get completely outplayed or they just destroy the opponent with some brilliant idea, some sacrifices, just all around fireworks when they play, super fun and interesting.

Wasn't Alireza ahead of Wesley So in the 2023 rating lists for the whole year except during December? The issue for me is the FIDE rule that considers only the last rating list at the end of year for the candidate spot. Think about it objectively and answer honestly, who deserves the most the candidate, the guy who was ahead almost all year long or the guy who got ahead at the very last moment? Perhaps Wesley's solid style would produce better results at the candidates but I can understand why Alireza was annoyed and did what was possible within the FIDE rules to earn his place at the candidates. If you ask me, ideally they should both be there...
@andrewbennett5618
@andrewbennett5618 3 ай бұрын
What alireza did to "qualify" was a gutless, dishonest, & cowardly move that spits in the face of the fighting spirit & history of the game. The person who didn't have to schedule fake tournaments against much weaker opponents who were losing on purpose to falsely inflate their rating should be in. It will be an embarrassment and another cause for an asterisk to be attached to the WCC if alireza ends up winning.

3rd: Re Alireza 1 - Before Alireza's farming, when has there ever been a legal immoral act IN CHESS/SPORTS? - Next: dirty flag, quick draws or London system is immoral. Also autosniper in cs2 / csgo. Lol. - (Well maybe keyboard extensions or farmbitrage - both in lichess.) - Before, players WERE allowed to write move before playing. Bobby Fischer did this vs I think Mikhail Tal, so what, Bobby cheated Mikhail? Lol. 2 - How can someone be against Alireza's LEGAL farming but not outright ILLEGAL cheating of Magnus, Garry & Hikaru? Sounds to me more like they hate whichever is more known. I bet they don't even know when Magnus, Garry & Hikaru cheated. Lol.

I don't get this title. It's extremely misleading. Obviously Wesley should be playing in the candidates instead of Alireza. This one single game does not decide. Wesley can probably get more wins with more games played in longer time format. So wtf even is this title trying to imply? That Alireza deserves to be there more? Wrong. Alireza is younger and extremely good. But Wesley deserves it more.
