Thank you for showing her game on your channel Agadmator! We've been following her for quite some time now and like you we were also enthralled by her attacking prowess over the board and certainly always a joy watching her play. If I'm not mistaken she just also recently earned her first IM norm shortly after getting her WGM. Though I'm not sure if the norm was attained in this tournament in Madrid.

Same issue Tal's opponents had with him. He throws all these sacs at you and leaves it up to YOU, the opponent, to figure out the solution. And the nice thing about being an attacking player is once you start you basically have no choice but to keep going with it as your hand is forced. Meanwhile, your opponent is left wondering if he should trade down and cut his losses or go for something himself, which is again, requiring more calculating on his part with the ever-present clock looming.

that's a concept played in many competitive games and it's true and tested! bring in the aggression, even in theoretically suboptimal moves, just attack and let your opponent figure out the puzzle. It's their clock ticking, not yours!

It wasn't until I watched your brilliant video twice I realized why Andrea didn't see Kh7. He had been concerned to avoid Kh7 to prevent a discovered check with the bishop leading the capture of his queen. He would have considered Kh7 would simply have resulted in Rh3 forcing the King back or losing his attack. Engines don't have a human sense of expectation.

i wonder if bxa3 instead of kh7 would hold on since the bishop would be taking on f8 with check.
@uremomisepic10 ай бұрын
damn my guess was sacking the e7 bishop on the a3 pawn, if they try to do the sack on f8 you come back with a discovery checkmate. but it doesn't work cus the rook on f3 captures the bishop back and after queen b4 threatening checkmate they will still do the sack on f8 and after the queens come off the board its a rook and knight vs bishop and knight with white still winning.

I suppose the "pinned" bishop realises that while it may be pinned, if it ignores that and takes the black king, the game is won before the black queen can capture the white king eh...
