Magnus Midtbo and I face off to see who builds stronger arms? Magnus has been rock climbing for 20 years and he can do a one arm muscle up, I'm not sure I can beat him in this department, physique maybe, grip strength maybe. . .Let's see what arm exercises he brings out and we'll have some fun with them!

I thought the same thing. I'm not that into fitness but their open mindedness and positivity alone made me subscirbe. Usually I would assume these two groups of fitness gurus would conflict due to philosophical disagreements, but they seemed to appreciate each others perspective. They also both seemed to find insight from the opposite side.

I took an indoor climbing course 18 months ago, and it was the best decision ever. I have done weight lifting for a few years on and off, and the grip strength I developed from climbing makes me so much stronger in the gym. I have always dreaded barbell bench press, but even after a year without performing this exercise, I can still press my own bodyweight (62kg) it's not very impressive, but I still think it's good for what it is.

@SuperAhmed1337 6 жыл бұрын
It's so hard to say who is equally strong. Ondra might be more on the endurance side, maybe Megos? What I'm really curious though is how speed climbers compare. It's such a niche field in climbing. They're usually packing.
@seantehan9484
@seantehan9484 6 жыл бұрын
SuperAhmed1337 SuperAhmed1337 I dont think ondra is really a strength based climber. Of course he must be insanely strong as hes the best but his 'strengths' are his pure finger strength, flexibility, speed and mindset. I would say more like usobiaga even gullich and john gill (in their days). Jan hojer maybe and sharma, who was just naturally insanely strong. These guys are real strength based climbers. Patxi most of all. Yeah speed climbing is really its own thing. Finger strength (pure finger strength for crimps) isnt really a factor and there are zero static movements so the training must be pure explosion. I would say the core strength demands in speed would be much less as well. But yeah like u said speed is a funny little niche in climbing
@SuperAhmed1337
@SuperAhmed1337 6 жыл бұрын
Jan is doing okay in Speed. No world record times but 7ish seconds or so. But Megos must have insane finger strength considering his crimping style.

One of the women we were with was saying "OH MY GOD, LOOK FOR HIS BICEP". Everyone looked and asked me to change. I was embarrassed by observing but proud to show the fruitage of my hard work. Tom: the King of the ifs If I hadn’t torn my ligament If I hadn’t just wrestled a bear If I hadn’t been hit by a car while shoving a young girl out the way If I wasn’t recovering from donating my spleen to a dying giraffe ... then I’d be able to nail this 😜

Ok, my dad was a body builder and a fitness instructor. Ultimately who wins arm wrestling will not depend of strength for these two, but technique. These two have a different type of strength. Body building the way most people do it, gives a person muscles with short bursts of explosive strength, where as activities like mountain climbing gives a person enduring long term strength. Lets say we have two events, who can lift the heaviest absurdly heavy object and who can take this moderately heavy object and carry it the farthest. The body builder will typically win the first, the rock climber the second. Of course you can train for a balance between the two, but not easily, and you won't quite get the size most builders strive for.

Juji should go and make a video or collab with Frank Medrano. I think he is an amazing callisthenics athlete to be honest
