Spoilers When Victor tried to wheel and discuss, whilst Nelli used Rapid Reflexes to put the knife to the imprisoned Kindred's throat and Annabelle cried out, "What are you doing?" - I feel like that really encapsulated the characters. Victor trying to reach a middle ground, Nelli cutting to the point without hesitation, and Annabelle trying to moralize something clearly wrong such as this Kindred hiding secrets, but being blinded by the fact that she's been imprisoned.

“You’re well on your way to being the first...not horrible vampire, so...keep it up.” The thing I find most fascinating with Jasper, Nelli, and Victor is that while some of them don’t outright say it, (Nelli, I’m looking at you) all three of them *want* on some level for Annabelle to prove them wrong. To prove that you can be a monster in body but not in spirit. That there is some measure and means to balance power and respect among the undead. Keep it up Annabelle. For their sakes as well as your own. I for one cannot wait for the new story for our coterie, and see what all sorts of deliciously dark trouble they can get into. annabelle is to naive to live in the kindred world, the only reason she is alive is thanks to nelli, jasper and victor. otherwise her "human" nature would had make her get kill fast. she's to young too, maybe if she was 1 or 2 centurys old she would be more willing to kill for survive. but seen her as someone too attach to a human world that she doesn't belong anymore is something that will make her suffer and possibily end up giving her the final death.

Julia Taylor An excellent point. One that Victor has brought up in the previous episode. She still has heart, and despite what others like him and Nelli say, it’s not a weakness. There will always be that part of them that wants that, which is why they like and love Annabelle so much. And I believe in what Carver thinks of Annabelle; she can do great things for herself and others. I do agree that at some point she will have to kill to protect those dear to her, but she already declared that she won’t be the weak link that gets herself and others killed. I’m so looking forward to see, however small or large the possibility is, of her becoming a Grey hero so to speak. One who tries to be better, but when push comes to shove, will not hesitate to destroy those that threaten what they love. Hehehe.

Annabelle turning out in the future as a fallen angel of sorts , would be a fitting and poetic ending to her journey. Which is why I don't see her getting killed ,as far as story purposes goes , now if the player can't keep playing for x reason , that is another discussion. I remember when I first read VTM as a tween back in the 90s and thinking it was wild the Cam didn't want to use phones, and the young Anarchs were all about modern conveniences. But now the Anarchs being like "yeah, let's just live stream our immortal selves through apps that sell facial recognition data, use GPS to go to our secret hideouts, and talk about killing people in group text" knowing what every millennial knows in 2019 feels wild. Like, they literally know the feds know at them by name and were getting tips off from a salty old man neophyte, who's suddenly going missing, and they're more trusting of social media and the cops than my parents. I dunno, I'm starting to the Cam and shovel heads were right, at least about going old school off the grid. Really curious how, rather than if, this stuff is going to get them in trouble in S2 as the Storyteller seems to keep taking notes based on Group chat.

Glae I mean with the use of VPNs, end to end encryption in chats, limited usage of classic social media networks and reliance on the Dark Web for intel can make technology a little safer. Then again, the case for vampires being in control of the media can explain why vampirism hasn’t been exposed yet. Vampires can’t just be in charge of the classical media outlets, social media would also be spearheaded by them. Kindred can basically erase known allies from monitoring systems. Easy as that. Now I think this concept will be addressed in Bloodlines 2 as there was an ARG based on a Tinder-esque dating app for vampires to use in order to easily hunt prey.

You can be smart about these things and there's something to be said for hiding in plain sight. Remember the second inquisition are a secret, they use the camarillas discretion against them. If they start killing public figures, bombings etc that's noisy and might draw eyes to their grossly inflated budget and sweeping powers.

This episode was absolutely amazing. Alex playing Jasper is just the best. The lines he comes up with are GOLD. I was laughing multiple times from every character. The storyline is fantastic. I started with episode 5 to watch Taliesin. Quickly realised this was no ordinary roleplay show. Went back to episode 1. So glad I did. I ended up subscribing to Alpha and watching the whole series over several days (including the wonderful epilogues). The character interactions in LA by Night are just a joy. I expect that quite a bit of preparation is needed to keep the improv humming along so smoothly, but it hardly matters that it all seems rather more tightly scripted than, say, Critical Role. I mean, how else can you confidently declare the name of the episode before it even begins, unless you have a pretty clear idea what's going to go down in what order? But this isn't a criticism. I love it! You can really see the difference that an actor brings with all their physical presence, even when the focus isn't on them. It's absolutely compelling to watch these guys do their thing. And Jason Carl just ties it all together perfectly. Bravo! By the way I think some of the best scenes are in the epilogues, especially between X and Annabelle. X goes from crazy to deadly serious in a heartbeat and it's just electric. I could watch him all day. Can't wait for season 2. Such inspiring storytelling! More please!

Yeah, I didn't really mean 'scripted' because obviously it's improv. I meant more that the actors (esp the minor characters) and storyteller appear to have agreed in advance roughly where the plot is going to go and the general scope of each scene - at least much more than Critical Role, which can and does go off in crazy unexpected directions. Both approaches are great of course, but I do love the bias that LA by Night has towards being in character as much as possible, and I suspect that to really make that work you need to know roughly where the story is going and your character's role in it. I'd be really interested to know from Jason Carl just how much plot and character development they discuss as an ensemble.

@@TessLowe I would describe it as the Storyteller having a tighter control over the events, in contrast to Critical Role where Matt gives them a map of the Dwendalian Empire and now they go wherever they want. Also the titles of the episodes are pretty vague so it's not really a constraint when you as a Storyteller know the types of challenges you're gonna put against the players and name the Chapter accordingly.

@@crypto1223 They were 1 hour episodes that followed the main story arc. Eg in the first season the first epilogue is referred to as episode 9: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGHQhWeJmb98h9E . I actually subscribed to Project Alpha so I could watch all the VODs but then Project Alpha went away just before the final epilogues of season 2 were aired, so sadly I've missed those until I can sub on twitch and find them there. Eventually they'll arrive on youtube as well. They're gradually posting season 2 at the moment on the youtubes.

@@TessLowe As a minimum, Jason tells or hands out some information to players between games, and then during play they go "I've got a tip..." BUT. Speaking from experience playing and running Vampire games like this, I say it is possible that they don't discuss plot and character development before the games at all. If you played Vampire at least once, with at least some of the same people, you have the intuitive understanding where it all is going, and what the etiquette at the table is, and how to try and stay in character, an play off each other. And the V5 edition rules explicitly require players to agree on "group tenets" before the first game. But then again, this being a show, maybe they do discuss plot/character development in detail in advance. In any case the result is wonderful - a smooth performance of great inter-character dynamics!
