I disagree with the comparison of Vini's stats with Neymar, Lewa, Suarez... We've had other Ballon Dor winners that had lesser goal contributions too, like Kaka, ROnaldinho, Ronaldo. It's not entirely about the numbers. It's about context and how important those numbers were. Take Harry kane for an example: he has several top scorer awards for Premier League. Last season he scored over 50 goals too. Insane, right? But did those goals help his team and country to secure a title? No! On the other hand, the majority of Vini's goals/assists were crucial for all 3 Real Madrid titles in the season

Honestly Lautaro Martinez is an underrated competitor for the Ballon Dor. He had a successful season with Inter Milan and carried his country in the Copa America, scoring the most goals in the tournament and he scored the lone goal in the Copa America final that won Argentina a record breaking 16th Copa America.

For me its Bellingham and the reasoning he put against him is honestly painful to hear because it's the same way everyone hates on him saying stuff that if anyone bothered to go look at it doesn't make sense like his claim that Jude goes missing is a common one but false as he's only went missing in a few notable games this season like those two months he showed where Jude didn't score for one he only played 3 of those games in that time as he was injured and unfairly suspended and the three games he did play, he got an assist against Athletic hit the crossbar against Mallorca with what would have been a great goal and had a game winner unfairly disallowed against Valencia didn't disappear there was just unlucky and now those games are going down as him "ghosting" and even without trying he's pushing this false narrative while Vini disappeared for Brazil and is magically the favorite

Rodri, then Bellingham, then Vini. Rodris season was essentially flawless for club and country. He did everything and more in his position as CDM. Bellingham also performed for club and country. The most important player for his team in La Liga and the Euros. Neither team would see near as much success without him. He still had a good UCL run, he just didn't perform in some important games and that's the only thing holding him down. Vini had a great UCL run and a good La Liga season. But unlike the other two, he couldn't perform internationally.

For me Rodri is 1st, Bellingham a very close 2nd, and Vinicious a close 3rd, though I would have no complaints if any 1 of these 3 won it. Rodri, was a dominating force in the Premier League, Champions League, and in the Euro Cup, without him, I am most certain Spain would not have won the Euro Cup. His teams both won the Premier League, and Euro Cup. His only blemish on that 2023-2024 season was when MC lost to RM in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, due to no fault of his own. Bellingham was fire the first 3/4 of the season. He carried Real Madrid the first 3/4 of the season due to his elite plays scoring many goals. RM eventually won both the Champions League and La Liga. He also helped get England to the finals of the Euro Cup. We all only tend to remember the last 1/4th of the season. We forget just how great he was the first 3/4 of the season, and only faded towards the end, most likely due to fatigue because he played just about every minute of every game. Vini carried only Real Madrid through the LAST half of the season. RM might not even have won the Champions League nor Liga without Vini's great play that last half of the season. In Cop America though, Vinicious did absolutely nothing (same for Rodrygo).

If we're going by consistent performance it's Rodri. Most of the time, he was the best player. Rarely did he have a seriously bad game. Vinicius and Bellingham both had poor runs of form at some point during the season which Rodri never did. If Jude was consistent the whole year I think he would've won in a landslide. Vini benefits by being an attacker and by having some big games but if it's about your week-in, week-out body of work over the year, Rodri should win.

Two hugely underrated picks imo are Dani Carvajal & Lautaro Martinez. Carvajal won the double with Madrid and the Euros with Spain while being very consistent, defenders don’t get much credit which is unfortunate. For Lautaro, he had a good year with Inter winning the Scudetto, Italian Super Cup while being the top scorer in the league and was the top scorer in the Copa America and eventually winning it with Argentina. Although I don’t think they’ll win it (Carvajal being more likely) they’ve both been slept on and are both top 10 candidates
