Back when tapes were still fairly common, I had both a Sony CD player and the OEM tape deck. When you switched on the tape deck, relays switched the RCAs.

Reminds me of my h.s. days with my 77 f150. A knoby Sony tape deck, with that exact Kenwood eq, an Orion black amp pushing two mtx road thunders in the doors with 2 dual 6.5 3ways and two clarion 5.25 2ways in the head liner. Those were the days, lol wires everywhere, amp just laying on the Trans hump, no door panels, more rattles than bass.

those subs are in a infinite baffle manifold. normally that vents to the outside, but in your case theyre venting it in. creating a sort of trunk baffle..but that wont work well because im sure that trunk is SO not sealed from the cabin

Back in '90 I ran the two EQ setup as well. Had a Sony for my front speakers and a Optimus/Realistic for my rears, all with a Kenwood headunit. It actually sounded better than it had any right to. Car audio was so much fun back then.

He pulled all of this equipment out years ago when he first got the car. It's already been converted to run on 12-volt. I think he's using a step down device for the gauges to still operate.

Ah, that makes a lot of sense. The 12V conversion with 6V step-down device was probably among the first of the upgrades. It's truly both a fascinating and wild experience all the odd things you can learn about with cars of the past when you're able to own one. Just how they were in most ways compared to those of today.

So the truth is these video clips were taken when I got the car a few years ago. I stripped everything out that same afternoon. First up was to install a new wiring harness and intake/carb. Needs exhaust work and interior next. Been a side burner project due to other responsibilities but hope to get to it soon

I've got a '49 Hudson up the road from you in SRQ area, maybe I'll catch you at a car show someday. It was owned by Francis Ford Coppola & used in a movie they made around 12 years ago. I've got it torn apart right at the moment doing fuel injection, 700R4, disc brakes & 8.8 rear end. No audio tho, just factory AM for now & up for any suggestions.

Kind of disappointed in this one. The BassPump was absolutely a 'free air' subwoofer system and absolutely not Isobaric. Intended for an easy way to get bass through existing rear tray speaker locations. Linear Power offered something similar.
