It's the characters mainly. The quality of the story, satire, worldbuilding and how Vought is still shown to be the main causing of everything bad that happens is carried on from The Boys but none of the main characters are as compelling as Butcher, Soldier Boy, Hughie or Homelander. It wasn't a dumpster fire though, most spinoffs turn to trash but this one has good feet to stand on
