I always assumed that the sketch was less about giving a precise description of Heisenberg and more about him already becoming some sort of urban legend. Who knows to whom Skinny Pete or Combo or Badger just mentioned Heisenberg's signature look, which then got around word-of-mouth style - so people in the scene would just know Heisenberg's appearance. (Heisenberg's appearance in the 'Negro y Azul' music video is another example.) And of course there would be no way that word of this new player wouldn't also reach the cartel. The theory that it was Tortuga goes in a similar direction I guess, although I still think it might be more of an urban-legend thing than being traceable to one specific person - but I might be oversimplifying. Loved the video and analysis, in any case!

I think it was someone from Tuco's crew, but likely not Gonzo. But the sketch was not done for the police. It was for the cartel, the police only acquired the drawing later after the Salamanca twins died. Remember Tuco said he'd sent for his cousins originally to take him and Walter to Mexico. Then when Tuco dies the cartel wants to track down this Heisenberg and they then ask some of Tuco's surviving crew for a description of the man they're gonna hunt, and it is here the drawing is made.

As to who drew the sketches, I think both were most likely drawn by one of the Salamanca twins. The first sketch was left at the altar in Mexico and the other in that house was for identification purposes. They obviously left it there when they fled after killing that cop. As to who gave the description, it was most likely Tuco. Now, why would Tuco give them that particular description of Walt? Because those sunglasses and hat are the only distinguishable characteristics that would identify Walt as Heisenberg. Yeah, Tuco's going to tell them he's just some bald white guy with a mustache and glasses as if there isn't a million of those guys walking around. The only characteristics that would set Walt apart are those sunglasses and hat.
@adrianmizen5070 Жыл бұрын
the problem with that is that Walt only rarely wore the hat and sunglasses, so it's a lousy sketch for trying to identify someone.
@MyUsersDark Жыл бұрын

This comment actually makes more sense. Tuco probably gave a description but also felt like giving the other appearance that Walt used with sunglasses and hat which is definitely easier to identify like you said.
@adrianmizen507011 ай бұрын
@@MyUsersDark Walt only wore it twice with Tuco (in the junkyard handoffs) and then once meeting with Jesse's friends at the museum. In his first meeting with Tuco he didn't have either hat or sunglasses, and Tuco wouldn't have expected him to be wearing it when he brought Walt & Jesse to Hector's house. The only people who would have only seen Walt with the hat and sunglasses on, would be Combo and Badger, but they weren't even on the cartel's radar. Of course, the image probably wasn't intended to identify Walt, since the cousin in the hospital recognized him without the hat and sunglasses. Maybe the cousins got a hold of one of the "missing" fliers from his "fugue state" period.
@overlorddante11 ай бұрын
I'm thinking it's them as well. And it's not like Tuco was giving a description for the sake of hunting down Walt, it probably just came up in discussion about how the dude does business or simply sharing gangster stories. "Hey Tuco, where did you get this blue meth?" "Oh let me tell you all about this crazy guy I got cooking for me." Tuco probably mentioned the description over the phone with the cartel and it was drawn weeks later when the twins decided to seek revenge.

I like how you're considering whether a low-effort doodle on a piece of scrap paper was drawn by a sketch artist that works for the DEA. Considering the cousins have the original doodle in their possession it's likely that they received the description from Tuco when they were arranging to make their way across the border. One of the cousins drew the doodle so they could hang it up at the shrine to Santa Muerte in s3e1. The second doodle, the one that Hank has a copy of, was also drawn by the cousins, as it is seen in the cold open for s3e6 when the cousins have taken over somebody's home and made another shrine to Santa Muerte in the home during their trip northward. They left the sketch at the scene after murdering the Homeland Security agent and thus it was discovered by the police who investigated the scene after they left. How it became associated with the Heisenberg case is up for debate. Mystery solved.

It was Heisenberg in his street uniform, the black hat and sunglasses. For the cartel it'll be easier to identify him in his street uniform, or that may just be the description that was easy to remember for the grapevine. Word on the street would be something like: "The guy that cooks Blue Sky, he's this tall bald White guy that I hear wears a black hat and sunglasses to the meets. LOL, he likes to meet out in a deserted junkyard instead of the mall!" The way Tuco, Gonzo, and No Doze, are laughing at him at the drug meet, is the one they would have been telling people about. They wouldn't talk so much about his exact appearance when he blew up Tuco's HQ, because, well these aren't guys who like to be humbled. In fact, they'd talk him up, not describe him as some dork that took out the office and got their money. Combine that with the fact that the guys who saw him on the way in the first meeting, searching him and such, did see him up close, but that doesn't mean they remember him all that well. Human memory is never perfect and crime suspect sketches rarely fit a 75% or better look. You don't remember an average looking person in detail, BEFORE you know he's actually a badass that can take out a crime boss's office and then go into business with him.. If the police or DEA did a sketch, it wouldn't have been on notebook paper. It would have been done and printed on a professionally made Wanted poster, like Victor's was shown at the DEA. The cousins would have gotten one of those, not a damaged copy done unprofessionally. This is reaching, but maybe it was Gus that set it up. We didn't meet Gus yet, but we know just how ridiculously precise his planning is, and we know Gus wanted to chip away at the Salamancas piece-by-piece. So we know Gus wanted the cousins to come north of the border, that way he could get them in the open and have them go after a DEA agent that has a good chance at killing at least one of them. Even if Hank didn't, no problem having them dimed to the Feds before they could make it back across the border. Obviously he had a bird's eye view and if they did kill Hank, Gus would have made the call to the DEA before the cousins made it out of the parking lot, with their exact car and license plate. But why would Gus have a rough sketch given to the cartel? Because he wanted to give just enough information to have them come up, and need to stop by Hector's for Heisenberg's real name, rather than give the ability to go right to him. So, he had Mike get a description of what Heisenberg wears to drug meetings, sat with someone who could do a solid sketch on non-professional paper, and had it passed down to where the cousins would find it. They got enough for Hector to confirm and give his name, but not enough to confirm it before they got to the USA.

I always found it funny that to be Heisenberg he needed his goofy little hat like a kid needs a comfort blankie. It just looks silly. I get that he originally bought it just cos he went bald and lived in a desert and so didn't want a burnt ass head. But it just feels silly that every time he tries to be intimidating, he thinks the hat somehow makes him so. Though after he kills Gus, he stopped wearing it at all, for the most part. I think when he was negotiating with Wolverine for them to distribute his meth, the "say my name" scene. But other than that one scene, he didn't wear it anymore.

Someone is a private investigator who used to work as a cop. They wouldn’t have made a sketch of Eisenberg at the police station because it’s not really necessary for those circumstances they have this thing set up basically for later in the day, and Badger is essentially working as there informant. So he’s the person that’s the eyewitness the person that’s going to confirm Eisenberg look. So it would be a relevant to draw out a design of the person. Law enforcement does that more for cases like a robbery where no one knows who the criminal is to help the victim describe the criminal, so the police officers have something to look for.

Tuco had seen Heisenberg both with and without the hat/shades, but that's what he wears that's so distinctive, so a simple phone call "tall, skinny bald gringo, broomhandle 'tash, always wears wayfarers and a black pork-pie hat" would be enough for anyone to draw that picture. 😂😂 When I clicked on this video, i thought it would be about who drew the sketch *for the show* . But I always assumed that it was Hector. The cartel obviously knows how to understand Hector, as evidenced by the ouija board. It wouldve taken a while, but it could be done. And Jesse and Heisenberg killed Tuco right before the sketch wouldve been needed to be made. Maybe even Tuco described them beforehand 🤷♂️ i think its obvious that it had to be either Hector, Tuco, or someone from that crew at the very least.
