This monkey has obviously been neglected. He’s half the weight he should be, I can tell by looking at him. Any fool could tell by looking at him he’s not healthy. Do not give him back to that evil lady.

You’re right! Not only that but the area she lives in is illegal to have primates. When she gets him back, they are going to take him from her and they are going to euthanize him. If she really loves him. She will leave him right where he is! His health is in bad shape sanctuary where he is has put lots of money out to try to get him well and has done wonders with him in the short time that she’s had him! He really needs to stay where he is!

She only wants that monkey because it's part of her instagram branding. Just look her up. She didn't care about it's health and didn't care to research it because if it passes away? Well that's just more views from the pity party perspective.

I don't see how they can claim no animal cruelty when the monkey is so underweight and the other health problems caused by this woman. No way should she get that monkey back. I am 100% behind the Funky Monkey Ranch retaining his care. That woman only wants the animal back because he is "her property" and she wants to use him to make money on social media. Shame on you Brandi, you don't deserve that poor monkey.

Irving TX ordinance makes it illegal to own or sell a wild animal, so why is she getting her illegal owned property back? And why is the US still allowing the sale of wild animals ?
@TheChewyTurtle

Because these are not wild animals. They are tamed pets. It at one point likely was a wild animal though, and many spider monkeys are unethically harvested in Mexico and sold in the US as pets.

Jorgie will be much better off without that woman he was seized from. The fact that she called him her "personal property" really bugs me. He needs to be with people who know how to care for him properly and won't use him for monetary gain. Please don't give him back to her.

This person should NEVER EVER be allowed another person let alone a freakin wild one!!! MONKEYS ARE NOT DANG PETS PEOPLE GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!! They're absolutely adorable & all that of course but they're not made to be our pets sorry but no! Absolutely no monkey should ever be kept as a pet !! I'm so glad this rescue loves this little angel I hope & pray he gets all the love & PROPER care he deserves if ANY Judge grants the custody back to the original "owner" I will have completely lost all faith in the system I mean come on people anyone with eyes can see that monkey was clearly neglected & not properly cared for .... This is exactly why monkeys for pets in ANY STATE SHOULD BE BANNED!!! PERIOD!!! ITS INSANITY!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

📰 *Vet Results Letter:* (Cottonwood Creek Veterinary Hospital) “I have been working with primates for 2 and a half years. On November 11, 2024, Jorgie presented for assessment. Bloodwork and imaging were used to help diagnose him with Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD). MBD is a disease that causes weakening of the bones due to inappropriate nutrition, specifically insufficient calcium. Inappropriate nutrition is the main cause of his current condition. MBD can take several months to years to cause detectable signs of disease. Bloodwork and imaging can help determine MBD before any visible signs are displayed. MBD affects young growing animals more readily due to their higher calcium needs. Insufficient calcium in the diet of young animals can lead to MBD. Jorgie has evidence of multiple physeal (growth plate) fractures on radiographs. It is unclear how long these fractures have been present. There is also evidence of an old, but now healed, fracture in the distal portion of his tail at coccygeal vertebra 20. Bloodwork and radiographs were repeated on December 3, 2024. There is evidence of improvement in Jorgie's health. His white blood cell count, liver/pancreatic enzyme values, and calcium levels have all improved. There is also evidence of increased bone density at some of the physeal fracture sites on radiographs. Jorgie needs a well-balanced, nutritious diet including appropriate amounts of calcium to help him recover from MBD. Lam A. Baugh, Dra Lauren S. Baugh, DVM”

Monkeys live in groups. It's very important that he is with his own kind and learns how to be a monkey. What will the first owner do if she gets him back, when his hormones kick in and he becomes the aggressive, dominate male as nature designed him to be? What will she do with him? Who will she give him to? Where will she take him? Monkeys are not pets. They are wild animals.

This woman describes him as ‘her property’… tells me all I need to know about her… praying she doesn’t get him back. Let's see if I understand. 1) The police were involved due to something regarding the owner and alcohol, not the monkey, 2) The owner says she lost the monkey because she didn't have the right paperwork. Has she since gotten the right paperwork? 3) the monkey has a "disease" that causes it to be underweight. Is this a curable disease that the sanctuary is able to treat or is the monkey going to die anyway? It's like saying "we are taking this person who is dying from cancer and not returning them because we will do better even if we have no cure for cancer." If she has her paperwork in order and wasn't medically doing anything wrong, the monkey could be her property. This can be another government overreach like a Peanut the squirrel situation.

First and foremost, is so annoying that the news channel didn’t include the vet report from the day of the story in the video and instead directed viewers to visit their website to read it. I mean, what? Anyway, based on the vet reports and test results that WERE shown in the story, it seems like he’s maybe just had a really bad diet. Returning Jorgie to his owner is not an automatic death sentence as the rescue owner said. Educating the owner about how to care for him and feed him is an option that it doesn’t seem has been considered. There is a world in which he can be properly cared for by his owner. The rescue owners seems unwilling to consider any option other than the one she wants, which is to keep an animal that has spent his life with and belongs to someone else. The story didn’t mention anything about how difficult it may be for Jorgie to be away from the only owner and home he’s known. For some reason, the assumption has been made that he’s happier and better off at this rescue, which may not be true. What if the owner agreed to participate in an educational program to learn how to care for him? What if she agreed to regular vet appointments and check ins? There was just zero willingness to accept any outcome other than Jorgie staying at the rescue and never going back to his owner. This is the kind of situation and this woman and her lawyer are the kind of people who give animal lovers and rescuers a bad reputation.

Owner needs to have her pet returned, rescue has no right to the animal. The disease uncovered by the seizure of the animal can be continued to be followed by owners vet, as can tracking the weight, but whether this monkey lives with some fancy lady or in a cage with a self righteous animal rescuer he still isn’t free.

Neglect isn't necessarily intentional. Being unintentionally neglectful - basically too stupid to know how to properly care for it - is still neglect and cruel. She's an idiot who has this pet as a status symbol as can be seen by the heavy gold chain around its neck. She deserves nothing for her TikTok. She has this as a major part of her instagram account which should tell you everything you need to know.
