The Helicopter round is simpler than it seems, once you've played through it.

Give the rulebook a read. After watching the video it made a lot of sense. I wonder though how would you teach the game? In what order would you introduce the elements.

David Waybright so you asked for quick thoughts once I played it. Certifiable gave me an invite to come down to their studios, went and they were amazingly hospitable with their time. Got to play the game with the designers and president, was an awesome experience. Loved the buildable system, loved the social dynamic, the paranoia built perfectly over the course of the game. Very excited to get our own copy in because this game could be high on my list for games of the year. That's just initial impressions so far. The helicopter round really made the journey a fulfilling and exciting one, great payoff!

Well first of all, welcome to the channel and thanks for coming by. We've done just a few Round One segments, but you'll definitely be seeing more and more in the future. We are going to try to keep these closer to 30 minutes, but this game demanded a bit more coverage in order to get some of the key elements across. Glad you liked it.

shatnershairpiece Obviously all comes down to taste, but I think anyone who got the chance to play to date will easily agree on that WGT? is the way better game. As they said here, WGT? is a survival game that works well even without all that hidden and paranoia mechanics... those are just the icing on the cake. The Thing Outpost 31 heavily if not solely relies on that hidden role mechanic. If you take that away, there is not much game left really I would say...

Oh, and while we played a couple of 2 player games, it's not officially supported (3 to 6) and needs a few house rules... But yeah, even though the paranoia part is not that present until the actual helicopter round in those (you don't have to be afraid of getting infected by the other player, since the thing needs the human to leave to have any chance to win during the helicopter round), it still was fun, because of the good survival game part as pointed out in my previous comment.

It's not officially supported. But with a few house rules it is fun with 2 or even solo if you ask me! :) Just don't expect as much or any paranoia during the game (for 2 player you still might have it to a degree, peaking during helicopter round)... it's definitely about the (coop) survival aspect of the game.

Am I the only one to think this might suffer from Dead of Winter syndrome where bad guy(s) really don't have to do anything bad for the game to be really difficult?

Kristo Vaher The game won't really be easier or more difficult because of the infected people, since they don't just do their thing, they still need at least 1 human to board the helicopter with them to have any chance to win. So, they still have to blend in and help at least to a certain degree and so much that they don't end up so suspicious that they get denied to board later on. Just as they mentioned in the video, it's not about that your plan changes all of a sudden, you still try to play along kind of if you are infected. I got to play the Tabletop Simulator version (not public right now) of the game throughout the last months dozens of times with 3 to 5 players, so I'm not just commenting based on videos or reads. :)

Relative to a lot of games out there (and believe me, we see a lot), this game and it's components and presentation seem well worth it. As soon as you open the box, you'll see what I mean.
