I'm surprised no one mentioned Cayden Primeau. Considering how bad and lost he looked the last few years, he's played well and has looked confident in the nets this season.

Imagine if Mario Armia was playing like this all year, he would be likely be challenging Suzuki for the goal lead on the team.
@robinchafe15012 ай бұрын
Armia learned from his time in AHL and playing big and putting in an effort getting rewarded offensively. Hope it carries over to next season. He plays alot of PK minutes too. Honorable mentions are Slaf and Matheson.

I said back in Sept. of 2023 that Juraj Slafkovsky would score 20 goals in 2023/24 and everybody doubted that. But he's currently a little bit short of that right now. And a few goals behind, however, he still has a chance with 7 games remaining.

ESPN projected Slaf to have 55 points before the start ofo the season and everybody thought its crazy.. I mean it was very plausible, had he played on the 1st line the whole season.. I think its possible he hits 50 with some luck! Next season I will be happy if he gets 70

Armia The Grey went to Laval, and Armia The White returned. If he can be this effective for the next 4-5 (prime) years, with a team friendly contract, he could be an important piece in place.

Keep Armia and get rid of Anderson

Obviously Slafkovsky is my biggest surprise, but yeah, thats the obvious answer. Other than that, im gonna take the unpopular opinion and say Cayden Primeau. Hes no elite goaltender, but he's been a lot more solid this year, and i dont feel bad having him as a backup. Everybody and their mothers have been saying for years that primeau would never be a nhler, and that he couldnt even hang in laval for the most part. Hes looking decent on the habs this year. Not stellar, but serviceable for a backup goaltender, which is a far cry from the public opinion on him the last few seasons

Our future on D is set with Guhle Barron, Xhekaj Mailloux, and Hutson Reinbacher making up our core. The S.S. Caulfield line is anchored well and needs no change with Captain Suzuki at the helm. Our 4th line is set with Beck, Evans, and Armia providing a strong D that can score so we are set on 4th and first lines. So we need some influx of talent for the 2nd and 3rd lines. Dach, Newhook, Mesar, Roy, Kapinen, needs Lindstrom, Iserman, or Iginla. So we need picks to trade for them. We don't need gold like Cellabrini plus the cost is way too high. There is much talent in the first round so trade for picks and move up. Lotsa' Silver is what we need we already have buillion on D.

Most pleasant surprise: The Montreal Canadiens! This is a team that has lost 35 plus 1 goal games. If they had won just a third of those games they would be fighting for a wild card spot. Primeau! Two shutouts. The only two shutouts on the team.

Common, Slaffy is not a surprise. He just proved in the NHL how he really is. 😊

@@hockeyislife7686I am tidily watching him since 2018. Nothing can surprise me regarding Slaf. He was dominant in all categories including senior international. I just don’t understand why people think he will be an average or even failing in the NHL.

I'm surprised they didn't get rid of MSL. I'm also surprised that he's gotten away with sucking the life right out of Xhekaj. When I watch X on the ice, he's disengaged, and in the pressers he's quiet and rarely smiles anymore. The week that MSL was away and Trevor took over was unbelievable. They played really well and all the players, including Xhekaj, seemed more at ease.
@jjevans16932 ай бұрын
@@She_26 Yes, nothing positive has surprised me. Armia I've been saying all along deserves more ice time. But you're right about MSL and Xhekaj. When they sent him down I said that I don't think we will ever see Xhekaj the way he was again. I hate being right on that one.

Joshua Roy is another surprise that wasn't mentioned. He looks like a legitimate NHLer, not a young AHLer getting a casting call to the Show.

Totally agree. Can't stand MSL. Must be nice to coach and play obvious favourites AND get away with it. Great comment, BTW.
