Elden Ring's formula was so groundbreaking, while at the same time using relatively simple ingredients to create a game you can't easily duplicate, which has big pubs pulling their own hair out. God of War has an incredible story.....but you can't even argue it's the stronger one, cause unlike God of War, Elden Ring draws from a fresh pantheon of gods that are unique to this setting, and have never been used or depicted in any preexisting media. Norse and Greek gods have been in the public focus for like.....3000 years. Kinda hard to balls up two mythologies that predated the bible. Don't get me wrong, Kratos is right up there with Geralt of Rivia now. He's that compelling a protagonist. But that's unfortunately the strongest thing about God of War, now. If God of War should be the strongest contender for game of the year, Hades should get equal consideration.

I agree Elden ring was phenomenal it could have went either way for me if I was more of a action over story I would have went for Elden ring hands down

God of War Ragnarök is a great game, but it didn’t do anything groundbreaking. While it improved the story and gameplay, it didn't rewrite the formula like elden ring did. Elden ring changed the way you look at openworld games and the freedom of choice you have in the game. While yes rangarök was good n all but it didnt change anything it made what was already made better and more complete rather than making a huge change.

I do agree with you bro but everything I put down for Elden ring was gameplay and I stated that Elden ring had the better gameplay over god of war and was very good but personally I’m more of a story guy so that’s why I loved Ragnarok more

it seems like God of War Ragnarok is your personal Game of the Year 2022.. As for the Game of the Year award, it should go beyond that, and in that regard, Elden Ring is better and it deservedly won Game of the year for 2022.

Yesterday I finished GOW 2018 on PC, I felt really dissapointed, so many awards given to it, overwhelming reviews on Steam, but the game really isn't anything special. The first half was so boring 5/10. And after Atreus got sick the game got better and went to 7.5/10 for me. But as I finished the game, I really didn't like it that much, combat gets repetitive. The story isn't who knows what. Overall I give it 6/10. I'm not sure I'll play Ragnarok soon, but really don't get the hype over the first game. It's only my opinion after all.

I'll keep saying this to every Ragnarok stan out there, you guys wanted GoTy? Make a better finale. Game's a gem up until ragnarok than it's all a fart in the wind, like Odin. And you might enjoy direct storytelling more but Fromsoft's way of portraying a story is just as valid and with all the characters in ER there's plenty to go around, you're a bit biased on that note.

not only did i finish elden ring like a week ago i would be more inclined to say elden ring is better and im going of my standpoint. so no im not biased because i have played both games and i think there some of the best in there respected genre and i have said in other comments i prefer story telling and god of war does that better for me. so instead of coming at me for my opinion learn to respect it and give your own and then i will be willing to listen

@atgaming7675 Biased doesn't mean "i only played one game" tho LMAO you indeed are biased when it comes to the story, precisely beacuse you have a *personal preference* on direct storytelling. Kinda knew you played ER once, you clearly missed it's deeper stories and lore around characters. You're already willing to listen and lashed out on hot air what are you on about? Learn how to take criticism my guy you're overly sensitive on the subject.

@ I didn’t lash out I was explaining my opinion in high detail and I referenced it had a more of a personal impact and that reason is because I like storytelling alot more yes and Elden ring I have actually got more hours on than Ragnarok and on my second play through now and still I havnt play Ragnarok for about a year

@ another thing I didn’t only stick to the story of Elden ring I did do some side quests beat a good chunk of the well know side bosses and ventured a bit into the dlc I did many streams on this channel of Elden ring to

@atgaming7675 You.. weren't. You just said "i played both i'm not biased", that's the literal opposite of explaining your opinion in "high detail". Then you told me to learn how to respect your opinion before talking, quite literally lashing out at me. Don't hide behind a finger it's useless. I can assure you, you still don't understand what i mean when i talk about "direct storytelling" and the fact you think ER doesn't have much in the storytelling department *proves* you don't know about it's actual story either. The fact you talk about downing bosses in regard to the story proves it, that's only the final point of a characters' story that you get to live for yourself, there's a whole story behind it that you need to uncover for yourself through item descriptions and side-quests.

Elden Ring with all it's glory deserves it's spot as GOTY, on the other hand God of War Ragnarok could've won if it weren't for the fact that did the game SUPER DIRTY by race swapping Angroboda. GOW Ragnarok was already perfect in a sense that it should've been all good but the fact that they hired a dumb ass DEI to make the game be pleasing or appeal to the so-called modern gamers with btw is a braindead decision which never made any sense and it shouldn't have happened. Elden ring was no game break through either because they took an old game playstyle but did do justice by creating a world of it's own, this is a compliment not a roast. So the biggest issue here was that DEI killed GOW's momentum by inserting WOKE NON-SENSE in a character which was a vital component to the boy's growth. (btw the boy is an @$$HOLE) The biggest dick move was turning Angroboda into a black character which was a weird move, (Fun fact, the OG and current Kratos were both voiced by black people and so was Angroboda which did fantastic job) which is an issue here apparently. According to myth Angroboda was a Joten or Giant from "Jotenheim" known to be WHITE GINGERS... both Thor and Faye confirmed the accurate image of what a Joten is SUPPOSE to look like.

the boss optimization is one of the worst in the game same with godskin duo its way harder if your doing a strength build i could guess you have a faith or intelligence build

how is the world empty? There is loot, or a mini-boss fight or something in every direction. How is it empty?

@EvilEye-rw6cx there are not many npcs the World feels empty because of it. Bruh just read all the subreddits they all talk about the same issue
