Great 1st reaction to Angelina, buddy! Cool that you finally got to hear her. She is currently 18 years old, but has been singing since she was 18 months (with a mic). She won Norway's Got Talent at age 8, and got the golden buzzer for her rendition of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody on America's Got Talent The Champions, at age 13. She's performed at the Nobel Peace Prize concert twice already and has done a whole lot. And all this without even being promoted in any way, so that may very well be one of the reasons why you haven't heard of her. She signed with Republic Records when she was 14, but per her family's and her own wish, no promotion was to take place until after she'd finished school. On Feb 29th she held a concert in Las Vegas, and 2 weeks ago she held another concert in California. Sold out. She is destined for heights that you can't imagine (we're talking MEGA status here), and she is about to take off. In that respect you're right on time. She has roughly 200 covers out, as well as quite a few originals. Last year she released a 6 song EP called Old Enough. The songs were recorded when she was 16, but you would never have guessed. I've been following her since she auditioned on Norway's Got Talent when she was 7 and have never left her side, so to speak. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a KZbin video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on KZbin. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On KZbin, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/10/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi. On february 29, 2024 she had two concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada,on the Elvis stage. On May 16, 2024, the first fruits of Angelina's cooperation with Tobi Gad were released. This German composer and record producer based in Los Angeles invited Angeline to an intimate concert at the Hotel Cafe JESSE & FRIENDS, the same one where Adel sang and was discovered. Tobi then took Angelina to London, where she performed His song If I Were A Boy at the London Palladium, and they recorded two versions of the song, Live At Saint James Church, and another studio version illustrated with a film from the streets of London. It seems that Tobi has started cooperation with Angelina and there are several joint songs in the pipeline. At the May concert in Los Angeles, one of them was presented: BAD VALENTINE. Angelina perform Concert at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on Sept. 20th, 2024. On the same day she released her new orginal singiel in cooperation with Tobi Gad Bad Valentine.

Angelina has rocked my musical world. I just went to her recent concert in LA, and it was fabulous. She has become my favorite singer and chenged this classic rock listener into a classic juzz fan. She is 16 in this video and just flat kills it. Just as good if not better than the original. There are 200 or so videos for you to discover by this amazing young lady starting when she was 7 years old. She sings with outstanding skill since she was 8 years old! She has multiple singles, three EP's and one album on streaming services. Plus two hundred videos on KZbin.

@beachbumseaglass I don't believe the six year old performances are of the same caliber as the 7 - and 8 year old ones. That's why I didn't mention them. I mean, there is a video of her holding a note pretty accurately at 1 and 1/2, but I don't think it is a quality performance. It's remarkable and shows that her brain is just plain wired differently from your average person, but it's not a quality performance. Some of her 8 year old performances are just plain good, however, which is why I start there as she is very good even compared to adults at that age.

I just turned 66 years old and have heard many great singers, including Whitney Houston. Jay, you did very well picking up on many of the reasons Angelina is among the very best. Angelina captured my heart at first listen, 4.5 years ago, at the start of the covid pandemic. Angelina is also an genius arranger, always making classics songs her own and she is showing signs of being an incredible songwriter. Angelina sang this song at about 13 in the same key as the original (something Whitney rarely did live) and she kills it. This girl is truly special, a fact she proved in Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7-8 and had been astonishing ever since. Welcome to the world of Angelina. So glad to see new people find out about our barefoot princess. She was 16 years old when she recorded this. She is now 18 years old and just this year has performed two shows in one night in Las Vegas at the Westgate Hotel and Casino in the International theater where Elvis preformed over 500 shows. Then just last month performed another concert in Los Angeles at the Alex theater in Glendale. Scott Hoying of Pentatonix did an opening number for the show and then later sang a duet with Angelina. Angelina has an official channel on YT with all her releases there. She also has a cover channel where she has videos of many covers of famous songs from the past by many famous artists and in many different genres of music. She started with the great jazz artists of the past and you can definitely tell she has jazz in her roots. Her family has protected her from the music industry while she has been growing up and is probably the reason more people don't know about her already. But now that she has turned 18 and finished high school, I think she is about to break out into the world spotlight. Angelina is a born singer. She started singing Whitney at 18 months. Really. Her mom recorded about 10 seconds of it. Since then she's listened to and sung nearly every "great" of the past. She won Norway's Talents shortly after turning 8, receiving 46% of the votes out of 10 finalists, all others being late teens or adults. You've got about 200 or more videos on KZbin to go. Have fun! Last summer she released an EP called "Old Enough" with six original songs (all amazing)! Her most recent release is "Bad Valentine" with a pop version and a stunning jazzy version.
